280gr wfn for fun

since i'm disabled, i want to try my ruger sbh(4 5/8") in 44 rem mag with a 280gr wfn. now i do have a load to go deer huntin' with, 44sp with 250gr mihek hp and 7.0gr of unique. i'm going to load up some(44 mag) 280gr wfn with trail boss, i was wondering if i could use 9 - 10.0 gr of unique on a 280gr wfn?

i'm only going to shoot at targets that are 20 - 25 yards away. also, i will shoot it one handed(stroke).

Darn sorry about the stroke, you have prayers from me. But I never tried Trail Boss.
I don't think a heavy load of Unique would be safe. Those loads are for a 240-250 gr.

sure you can. I shoot an lbt 280 lfn with 9 grains of power pistol out of one of my 44s all the time. power pistol and unique are real close. About anything you can do with a 250 you can do with a 280. just back the powder charge down a bit. If all your goint to do is shoot targets your 7 grain of unique load would do well in the 44 mag with the 280

Quickload thinks that loaded to 1.61"
7 gn of Unique with a 280 should give around 880fps at around 17,000psi ish.
9 gn of Unique with a 280 should give around 1050fps at around 28,000psi ish.
10 gn of Unique with a 280 should give around 1120fps at around 34,000psi ish.
This is not load data, the results will differ with seating deapth.
