I'm running numbers on a casting business (I know I know) for giggles.

Where does one find find a source of alloy at a reasonable price? We have a local supplier but the prices are way too high to profit from. Just shy of $4 per pound in Lyman #2.

There must be a way for commercial casters to get alloy at a decent price right?

Thanks guys and gals!

I bought a ton from Mayco a few years back. It was $1.61 delivered to my door for 92-2-6. Do not bother with Rotometals. They are good for small quantities but not for large ones.

You'll want to be purchasing a ton a time direct from the smelter. Mayco is one such smelter.

That's a pretty high price. I've been able to get 96/2/2 in half ton lots for around $1.35 shipped. If I ordered two tons the price would have been even lower. Shipping is usually around $0.30 a pound so that puts the Doe Run alloy at roughly $1.77 a pound

Alot depends on what part of the Country you are in. I supply Isotope Core lead to local commercial caster at $ 1 per pound and they alloy it up to what they want. Ohio Victory White MO Mayco or Overland TN ask $1.02 lyman Hope that helps
