I started looking for a 2nd burner.
I don't need a 2nd burner, right?
But what if I have a pot of COWs going, and I want to melt SOWs at the same time?
Or what if I want to preheat the ingot molds (that TexasGrunt made my buy) while I'm smelting?
Or what if, Heaven forbid, my other burner breaks and then I can't melt nothin'!
Tell me I don't need a 2nd one. My backyard already looks like Sanford and Son since I started this hobby...

Buy three more burners mount them on a rotary topped table and you can run all for at a time rotating to the next each pour LOL. A turret casting set up. LOL

Seriously now a second burner and pot would be handy not so much for different materials but to have each heating. Then when one is heating the other is ready to pour ingots. A lot less time waiting on lead to melt that way.

Saw a slick set up with a Lee 20# bottom pour mounted above the main pot. Top off your main pot with already molten lead!

Best part it just drips in with no effort on your part!

I think we all have certain things we can't seem to get enough of? Mine is TC Bullet Molds, i have spent a small fortune obtaining them! I did end up selling all of my collection awhile back for substantially more than i had in it. But now I'm back at buying them again! LOL

I hate to tell you, you are normal for this hobby. You need 3 great big, medium. Smaller. Then your two casting pots so you can do softer 11-12 & another for your harder casts.

Wait till you have to have a coke fired forge to heat the pot. Just be sure to wear your fire retardant suit and gloves and helmet to use it. LOL

I started off with a 2 burner melting thingy and 2 cast iron pots.
I added a third with a much larger pot to blend the various batches all together in to make a single homogenous batch. [and to give the alloy another cleaning]

I'm with Slim1836 you just are trying to save more money than you already do by casting and reloading! :kidding:Tim

Of course you need two, that way you can melt lead and have a crawfish, crab or shrimp boil !
Crawfish season is just starting , crab and shimp will follow.

My burner just died and I'm out of propane. That's what I get for not having spares.

Why are you still here? You should be out buying new stuff before you start withdrawals.

If you have 2 you don't need to risk adding cold lead to the smelter--empty one whilst the other comes up to temp.!
