Just for your information ,I found a vendor that has .45 caliber Drop in LRH barrels in stock forsale. He has 7 left and they are complete drop in for T/C Renegade models with 1" barrels. Cost is 220.00+20.00 shipping.I got one just for kicks. These are the blued ones.I recently got one from a private sale new in box, it works perfectly. The stainless is nicer for cleaning but the blued ones not a problem. Here is the vendor that has the barrels.Better not wait to long!

Ive known this for well over a year, i bought mine directly from Green Mountain last year for 75 bucks! They had between 40-50 barrels on the shelf when i bought mine. I should have bought 2 or 3 of them at that price! Pecatonica caught wind of it and bought every last one of them, So i was told by Green Mountain

there's a seller on gunbroker that must have bought a truckload. continually has one listed for $221.00 with buy now for $222.00 and they always get listed as "sold" so I'm guessin' it's not the same barrel gettin' listed over-n-over. unless he's some kinda master scammer.

bubba.50, I have seen this guys ad on Evil as well. Looking back i wish i had of bought a few of these at 75 bucks, But i simply didn't need them. When i called Green Mountain last year about their LRH Barrels i figured it was a total shot in the dark since they hadn't been made for several years, but to my SHOCK they had between 40-50 of the blued .45s left, I didn't even want a .45, i was after a .50 or .54 but those were LONG gone. Then i asked the Gal how much on the .45 LRH and she said 75 bucks, i ordered one IMMEDIATELY! I sure wish these had of been their Stainless ones instead of blued. As most know I ended up finding a like new Stainless .50 Cal, The one that drives me nuts is the .54 LRH, i have NEVER seen one, not even a picture of one? For the last year and half to 2 years I have been on Ebay, Gun broker, other forums, etc. almost daily at some point or another and NOTHING! I have seen LOTS of .45s and several .50s but not a single .54 Cal LRH. I do know they exist, I recently contacted Green Mountain and they confirmed it. Talk about chasing a Ghost! I gave up and bought the Lyman Great Plains Hunter .54, i gotta admit i stil keep looking for the Green Mountain LRH .54 tho!

Just on a whim...I called GM to make sure they no longer had any LRH barrels. I knew GM had stopped production, but was somewhat hopeful they still had a stash set aside for a persistant fan. Long story short they do not have any stashed away and Pecatonica made the last bulk purchase. However, the conversation was good and I'm glad I called them. After speaking with them, I would give them great consideration if I needed a barrel for a project.

What bums me out is they won't custom make an LRH barrel, at least that is what i got when i talked to the Gal back when i first contacted them and ended up finding out they had the stash of .45 Barrels, I specifically asked if they would build me a .50 or .54 LRH? The Gal said no not on an individual basis, that there would have to be a certain amount of them in order to run them again. I would gladly pay 300-400 a piece for a Stainless .45 and a Stainless .54, After owning this Stainless .50 YES Stainless is that much better than Blued in my opinion!! This Stainless .50 is the easiest rifle i own to clean, absolutely no comparison in it and my new Blued .45 LRH barrel, i get a tinge of brown on a dry patch after i have thoroughly cleaned my .45, this NEVER happens with my Stainless .50, I get cotton white patches EVERYTIME i clean my Stainless barrel.

I realize there are other options for a custom fast twist barrel, such as the Oregon barrel Co. and Bobby Hoyt could rebore and twist to your liking. I guess its a Ford, Chevy thing? I have had such good luck with both my .45 and .50 Green Mountain LRH barrels that I would much rather spend my money with them.

If your stainless barrel is giving your other barrels a complex...I would be happy to remove that issue from your collection....lol.

I spoke to a Gentleman at Green Mountain. He was very knowledgeable and it took about twenty minutes to get the same no that you recieved, but I did enjoy speaking with him.

I had called Ed Rayl about upping a T/C barrel to .58 cal. The price was agreeable to me, however he suggested we start with a .50 cal, because the reamer can snag on the rifling of a .54 Caliber causing potential damage since there is not significant enough diameter difference. I only have one .50 cal and it's a flintlock, the rest of my barrels are .54 cal, he did suggest going to .62 cal. I simply am not set up for .62 You might check with Ed as from my understanding...he does make complete barrels.

just to let every one know, it seems that pectonica long rifle supply has thompson and renagade breech plugs, after market ones that fit a thompson tang, they are hard to find. from there you can have a fast twist barrel made in any cal. if you want a stainless steel barrel made smith out of canada does stainless steel. he made one for me and he does it so good it looks like a parabolic mirror in the bore it is cut so smooth. he is 82 years old but still cutting barrels. i talked to him just the other day by phone. sounds the same as when i talked to him 25 years ago by phone and ordered my barrel back then. he also does gain twist, my 45/70 barrel is gain twist.

J42, This sounds REALLY good!! I would MUCH rather have Stainless steel barrels!! 'Period Correct' means EXACTLY NOTHING to me, 'Functional Correct' in fowl wet weather means EVERYTHING to me!!

Yea they were available in both 15/16 and 1" Idahoron's is 15/16th i just recently seen a 1" Stainless 45 on Gunbroker, brand new with a 500.00 buy it now option. I seen it run twice without selling. If It had of been a .50 Cal it probably wouldn't of made it a day, Had it been a .54 it wouldn't have made it another minute

i called pecotonica river long rifle supply and they are out of the renagade and thompson breech plugs now but will have them when the weather breaks as the man who makes them doesnt have a heated shop and only works in it when the weather is warmer. also he has 6 green mountain fast twist 45 cal barrels left. they are 1/30 twist which will shoot a 250 to 325 grain .440 paperpatched bullet very very well. would make a good deer rifle.

waarp8nt, You better jump on one of these last 6 .45 Cal GM LRH Barrels! You wont likely find another for the 220.00 price tag when these are gone!

Green Mountain has some great barrel but they don't always have what I'm looking for, and I'm a dealer for them. If your looking for a custom size and twist try Jim Carpenter , 208-245-3693. He bought out Jerry Cunningham of Orion Barrel about 20 years back and is making custom barrel at a reasonable price. And yes, he will do stainless if you send him a piece of 416.

At that price it'd be worth it to get one to rebore if what you wanted was a .48, .50 or .52.

Brother I would love to have one, but too many shiny things have caught my eye lately including a 8mm Danish Rolling Block, T/C .56 smooth bore with extra .54 cal barrel and a Green Mountain .50 LRH blued in like new condition, but missing sights.

No way in hell i would go under .448, i just trashed my .448 trying to go .449, i ended up ordering a .449 Lee, .449 is the $hit!! If you plan to benchrest shoot .446 would be great, or carry your rifle everywhere you go barrel up would work also. .446 loads WAY to easy in my opinion, as a hunter i would NEVER trust it, i would constantly worry that the bullet might of backed off the powder charge, i dont wanna worry about things such as that while hunting, if i were to benchrest shoot ONLY it wouldnt matter to me if the bullet fell down the barrel and bounced off the powder charge.

I called on the NOE sizer dies, they are a nose bushing sizer? The guy i talked to told me i needed body sizer bushings for what we are doing, which they DONT make in .448-449 etc. That was about a month and a half ago, maybe they do now? The guy said he wanted to expand his body size bushings, I would of rather went with these bushings, but i ended having to order Lee Push through sizers. Buckshot here on the forum has a .449, or did have a month or so ago. Idahoron and i loaded his .45 Hawken with one of my .448s and it loaded real similar to his .446, This is why i went .449

54bore, buy one of the regular ones and send it to a company that does that micro thin never wear out hard chroming process for guns. should even be better than stainless. i use this process when ive done builds with stainless steel barrels and wanted the breech plug and tang to match. cant tell the difference. and the hard chrome process is very thin and almost impossibe to wear. there is always a way to get what you want.

I bought two of them. I plan to keep one for sure. Might start shooting at a local club this fall. I went to a muzzleloader gunshow this last weekend and had a really good time swapping stories with the fellows.

Not sure where Pecatonica stands on barrels at this point, however I did find 4 more GM barrels in 50 cal slow twist (in the white - not blued) at Flintlocks LLC over at Indianapolis. Michael will be set up at the Kalamazoo show this weekend. If someone wants a good round ball barrel they may want to speak to him soon.

Renegade is my smoke pole of choice. Thanks to some forum members I do have a one inch Hawken stock with a .54 Renegade barrel stuffed in it. Not sure if it should be labeled a Reneken, Hawgade or Hawkenade? Any suggestions?

Turn that beast into a 'Hotrod Hawken'!! I agree with you, i prefer the Renegade myself, i have never been a Fan of ANY Crescent Butt plate, the TC Hawken isn't bad but isnt great either, my new Lyman Great Plains Hunter is the worst i have seen! It fit me good, but MAN the top of that Butt plate IS/WAS literally knife sharp! I removed the Butt Plate and Rounded the knife edge off with a dremel and sanding wheel, then cold blued it, filled the sweep with a memory foam stuff and put a nice Lace up pad on it, i put a twin to this one on my TC Hawken as well.
