How do I reload for 7.62x45?

Well, looks like I now have a Vz 52 Czech rifle, chambered for the mighty caliber, famous worldwide, and endlessly available, 7.62x45. Not. I have 75 rounds of steel cased corrosive garbage, but after that I'm on my own. Does anyone know how to form these cases, if there are any dies cheaper than the 140 dollar RCBS, and any load data?

Searching the net I found some use 6.5 Carcano as a parent case. Many tried using 7.62x39 dies but the shoulder angle isn't the same!
I did find a set of the rcbs dies in WI on Letgo for $100, might be worth getting the app and contacting them?

Looked into it at one time, 30 rem brass was very close for the conversion.

I looked into the 7.62x45 at one time, someone offered a rifle in trade for a gun I had on armslist. But last thing I needed was something else to form brass for, especially something I have to go find the brass after it ejects it in the grass.


But you can buy ready to load brass.

And it can be made from the 6.5 carcano, and 220 swift from what I have read. Load data is not alot different than for the x39, top end x39 data is min data in the x45.

I also have one of these odd fellows. I have yet to shoot it. I have like you a very limited amount of very very corrosive ammo. Some day I will get the die set and some brass....but my rifle did come with a chamber adapter for 762x39. I might just try that but I hear they will stick to a shell and get ejected

I intend to use 7.35 Carcano brass to form cases.It appears to be about the closest case to the original.

Looong ago GONRA reformed Norma 6.5mm Mannlicherbrass.
RCBS 7.62x45 Czech dies (custom at the tyme) no rim modifications needed of course.

118.4 grain .310 inch diameter Lyman U311359 gas check cast bullet,
27.0 grains IMR 3031 powder, CCI#200primers functioned Just Fine.

Intend to develop a load for .311 inch diameter 130 grain Norma SP bullets
with WC 860 powder but haven't got around to it yet.
On paper pretty much dups the Czech militaryload.

Bear in mind that these Czech M52's have thefiring pin OUT OF LINE
with the primer until bolt is locked. NICE safety feature!

'cause its SO SAFE, remember using my firstCzech M52 for
Mr. and Mrs. GONRA kids,+ assorted neighbor kids to shoot.

BUT - with that wonderful (appearing) annulargas system,
note how fired case ejection gets closer andcloser as you blast away.
Hmmm. Precision ground annular gas system IS heating up / locking up.
Oh Well....

I was part of a group buy on another board long ago, where we got Lee Precision to make up dies for them. I believe it was the SurplusRifle board. You could organize another one.

It will be awhile before I run out of the surplus ammo, but I also bought a lot of 6.5 Carcano brass to reform for it.

I always wanted to convert one to 7.62 x 39. There were bushings available but I don't know how well they worked. Rebarreled to something more common it would be a great gun. The one I had was a parts gun without a mag but it shot ok at close range with its rotten barrel.

I'm probably not interested in starting a group buy. At this point, I'm thinking I will buy the CH4d full length sizing die for 80 bucks, and a cheap 7.62x39 bullet seating die. For brass, I will try the 6.5 Carcano brass.
