picked up some lead ingots from an estate sale and found in one box that the ingots were marked "LT" in permanent marker, none of the other boxs were marked. the marked bars look shinier than the unmarked bars. does anybody use this abbreviation or have an idea what it stands for. plan on getting it xrayed when I can but figured somebody here might have an idea.

for wheel weights its common to use "W-W" and soft is sometimes "S" and tin is either "T" or "P" but I have never seen a "LT".

Drop it on edge on the concrete floor from 30" up or so...if it goes 'ting' more than 'thud'...it's pretty hard.

My guesses are W-W Clip on wheel weight, S stick on T & P tin and pewter, LT Lino or Mono type

was laying in bed pondering it when the lino type came to mind, now I feel like an idiot. I have about 30 chunks of unknown alloy that I plan to get checked so this will get checked too but I'm fairly sure its lino or mono. may need to check the regular lead bars I got from the estate as they might be alloyed with tin already.

I've used a screw driver, or a chisel to stamp L T on my Linotype ingots.

It always made sense to me.
