xr650 , I stole it , off ebay express .. They are fixed prices , no bidding wars ... They are rare as hen's teeth .. It was originally designed for the 460 webby..
Discontinued years ago ..

I have seen single cav 462560's go on ebay auctions for $125 and up .. Well I give $150 for it , so I think I did excellent , with a lot of luck to boot ..

No.1 I have considered that already , given the interest in bringing it back here ...

If you cannot rent it, could you provide a couple of samples? I will give them to my cad guy and have him "draw" it up. It would make a dandy group buy!

Holy crap! I had a single and sold it for a premium years ago. Man, that's a good find. Your pot is going to go down REAL quick using that.

A gentleman by the name of Jim Jukes did an article in either rifle or handloader some years back and according to him it was "The" bullet for the 577/450 martini. Methinks you did good. Frank

Thats only the second one in a 4c I've ever seen.and the first went away for over 200 greenspans on regular e-Bay. A known commercial outbid the rest of us... Onceabull

Well you've seen twice as many 4 cavs as I have then :Fire:

I forget what I paid for my single back when , but it was a good bit of change for the mid 70's ..

I can imagine the 4 was really spendy ..

I wonder if Lyman has any idea how many were made or if they have a way of dating them by the block numbers :?:

I was ecstatic finding a single cavity two months ago for $80 shipped and insured. It is less than .001" out of round and acww makes a .461"-.4615".

Good on you!

Rich

What makes it so good in the 577/450?

According to the author of this two part article Jim Jukes it was the only factory made cast boolit mold which was both fat enough and heavy enough to both fit the bore of the martini he was using and gave enough weight to get good powder combustion for the powders he was using at the time. Of course today you have bullet molds that do cast the right diameters for the large bores commonly found on the 577/450 martini rifles. Standard 45/70 .457-.459 sized bullets are undersized for the martini with their large bores. Double D if he sees this is more qualified than I to better give info regarding the feeding and shooting of martini's. Frank
