So I got my Kimber eclipse in 10mm, which I'm regretting only because I'm broke now.
Anyhow, I'm looking for your favorite loads. I have on hand bullseye, titegroup, unique, aa#7, h322 which I know is a rifle powder, and I'm trying to get my hands on blue dot and 700x? I cant remember if its 700x or a different powder that's infamously awesome in the 10mm. For bullets I have rainier 180gn plated flat nose bullets thanks to a very generous member here, prvi partisan 180gn jhp, flat nose 180gn lee lead bullets (modified 401-175 for flat base, now drops 180gn) in standard lube and in black PC. I have some used cases I bought that ill be surprised if I get one load out of, hand priming the primers just slide right on in, like hot dog in hallway.
Please let me know what your favorite load is, I don't need specifics as far as grains and max oal or anything specific, just what bullet design weight and material and powder and primer choice, if lead cast let me know what lubrication specifically you use and what design, I'm trying to get my mitts on some 200gn bullets or a mold, but right now funding for a mold is low and I'm praying mihec will make the mold I desire.
Thanks

Welcome to the 10mm world!!! Bion, MP made two of the 10mm moulds I have, and the one I shoot is for a Smith semi, and it is his 402-170, a 170gr SWC 4-cav brass mould with several pin sets. I use Accurate Arms #5 powder, and *MY* load starts at seven and one-half grains. Primers are whatever I have at hand -- not too picky -- but CCI is my brand of choice.
Sounds like your cases were fired with quite hot loads, and primers going in too easily might be a cause for concern. I bought my 10mm quite a while back, and envy you with your new Kimber -- quite the gorgeous firearm!

Groo here
Till you load for the 10mm a while, I recommend AA7 as your go to powder.
Yes,700x is the "nucler!!" powder but requires weighing each load.
Unique will work for "mid range" loads . [ They don't call it UNIQUE for nothing!!]

I've run Lee 401-175-TC (traditional lube groove) boolits cast of wheel weight alloy with two different powders, 2400 and Ramshot Enforcer. These are pretty stout loads and it is hard to find data on either powder. These boolits were homegrown and Hi-Tek coated before making their way down the barrel. I use Winchester LP primers to start things up for 10mm loads.

IMR 800X is the powder that many use for 10mm loading. 700X is to fast for upper end loads.

I just had a mold put together with my dimensions at Accurate Molds as my main thumper and yet gives me good, usable case volume.

800X not 700 for top end 10mm loads.

I would be worried about the loose primers. All primers I load either by hand or with press go in pretty stiff.

IF IF you use those loose primer cases, only for mouse level loads and VERY light attempts.

For top velocity you want 800-X or Longshot. Longshot has the advantage of metering well. But it usually comes up short compared to 800-X. I have a Chargemaster so throwing charges of 800-X is a press of a button. I don't load max loads in bulk so it's not a big deal. For plinking I use W231/HP-38. Those loads are no slouch either and you can easily get them over 1k fps w/ lighter bullets.

I knew I should've just paid the little bit extra and bought starline brass to begin with, I guess ill be ordering from them soon. All the brass ive primed so far has just slid the primers right in.
I would love to find a 200gn solid and 180ish grain hp mold to work with, but for now my lee 6 cavity is going to have to be good enough, I hope I can get some decent velocities and decent groups with what I have, buying the Kimber drove me broke so hopefully ill recover some of that money soon so I can really do this nice gun justice with decent ammo. Thanks for the help so far everyone.

How do you like that mold from mp? ive been thinking 170gn is somewhat light for 10mm in its true form, but if it shoot reasonable and runs well I may just get it to have it, at this point I'm anxious to get my hands on another mp mold, and this may be a perfect excuse.

I'm a lighter faster guy, I like Speers 135grn jhp over AA#7, 155 and 175grn cast over Unique as my pet loads.

My results with 800X is it works great. AS LONG AS EVERY CHARGE IS WEIGHED.!! Its wildly erratic when thrown. But with the correct weight . its no problem pushing 200 gr bullets @ 1200 fps from an OEM length G20 barrel. Rim Rock Bullets makes the 220 gr boolit that Buffalo Bore loads. Its a good boolit.

what do you unload these with?

I have fired them in a G20, G29, and a RIA 10mm M1911.

I started out casting Lee 175 grain TL SWC and loading it over Blue Dot and Unique. Unique was great for "practice" loads. Blue Dot needs to get up to pressure or it is insanely dirty.

I have also run a pound of AA#9, and see great velocities with that powder. But it is more expensive and the charges are 50% larger than Blue Dot or Longshot.

Somewhere along the way I got a 205 grain WFN design from Mountain Molds in a trade. And I like the heavy bullet in a WFN design so much that I bought a 5 cavity NOE RG mold that can cast a 200 grain WFN or a 180 grain HP.

I have played a bit with Power Pistol, and recently got a good deal on 8lbs of BE-86. Blue Dot and Longshot have become my go-to powders for full house 10mm loads. Unique, Power Pistol, BE-86 are used for loads that lower velocity, generally right at a 40S&W max velocity for bullet weight.

I run the above in 5 different 10mm guns. Glock 20, 29, Witness Full size, Witness Match, Para P-16/10mm.

I don't have my load data with me at work. However, I am using Unique with 180gr Xtreme plated HP in a Gen 2 G20 with 6" Lone Wolf barrel. Its an accurate load, and very close to top end in the Lee manual. Those are my "at the range rounds". Usual around the woods carry was with Winchester 175gr Silver Tips factory fodder. I have some boolits that I'll try when I settle down from my foray into revolvers and 1911's. In fact, I haven't touched the G20 in almost 5 years...

hands down favorite powder in the 10mm is aa9. I use more of it then all the rest combined. Never had much luck with exceptional accuracy using faster powders. Anymore as fast as I go is hs6 and 2400. but like I said I prefer aa9 and even 110/296

I have 8lbs of aa#7 and while 40s&w loves it I was hoping to also use it in 10. I have to find some data on it. I would love to get my hands on a good heavy mold. All I ha e right now is a Lee mold I converted to flat base that throws at 180gn. Not too many people stock any hp molds. I've been trying to get mihec and now to run something. Haven't been having much luck though.

I run Blue Dot for a midrange load with cast 180s, about 1150 fps. The 800x load is stout but needs to be weighed for each cartridge cause the flakes are like Lays potatoe chips. Need to pick up a pound of Long Shot and give it a try.

I too use 800x for top end heavy bullet loads such as the 200 grain. Like previously said carefully weigh each charge. For more mundane loads unique or power pistol work well.

I used to use Blue Dot and Speer Gold Dots for a very good load quite a while back. The numbers listed on the guide now seem to be about 200 fps slower than what they were back then. Might want to look at some of the older guides to compare.
