I have the Lee Pacesetter dies set for 300 BLK, but I am trying to move away from seating and crimping in 2 different stages now that I have my Rock Chucker all tricked out with goodies from Inline Fab. So is there a better option than the FCD for crimping 300 BLK? I am shooting them from a Ruger American rifle exclusively.

If I were shooting in a bolt rifle, I would not crimp at all other than removing any bell you have put on the case. I use the FCD for semi auto.

I also use the FCD for our AR's and my Encore pistol.

My Blackout is an AR, my dies are Lee, and I don't crimp my jacketed loads. Cast, yes.
The FCD die is wonderful in my tube mag 30-30. I wouldn't bother using it in a bolt gun. IMO.
Best, Thomas.

I use the FCD on my Blackout rounds.

On cartridges like that I don't crimp at all just use case neck tension with j-word bullets or cast.

I use the Lee FCD to remove the flair from the neck when using cast bullets and to put a light crimp on loads used in my Ruger. If the case is uncrimped, the case mouth may catch on the edge of the chamber, causing a jam (more likely on a new rifle). You may be able to crimp using your seating die, if it has a crimp shoulder and your brass is trimmed to the same length. Not all Lee seating dies are capable of crimping, you will only find out by testing.
I always seat and crimp in two steps. It is easier to adjust the dies, you will have better crimps, and are much less likely to shave lead from a bullet, or crumple a case.

I shoot cast in my BO and seat and taper crimp separately.

I also use LFC for all my rifle loads.

If your boolits seat tight, you only need a crimp that removes the bell in the case. I use taper crimp die.

Lee recommends the fcd die for the 300 blackout ; for what it's worth I use it in cast and jacketed in the AR platform; when I have a bolt gun in this caliber I'll still use it for cast!
A question for the OP and anyone else whom feels like chiming in, what is your favorite load in 300blk? I'm just loving the 135 Barnes almost can't miss with it , these are sonic loads and smiles and hits are assured with it!

FDC on my BO cast plain base 150 gr. rounds. Gets rid of any belling left from case expansion and prevents feeding jams. I've also found they are a bit more accurate than when I don't crimp.

Don't know that I've settled on a favorite yet. So far I've loaded 110gr VMAX, 125gr SST, and 150gr Speer JFP. So far I haven't found anything that doesn't perform well out of my Ruger American Rifle. The 125gr SST or other 125gr bullet could probably be used for most supersonic .300 Blk applications with good results.

yes intend to agree I think this Barnes 130 grain hp is a real winner at top fps and these 147 grain fmgs shoot like I always hoped they would out of my 308! The 205 cast loads are stil a work in progress!

I don't crimp rifle rounds unless big kickers in a levergun, your sizing/expanding dies should leave the proper consistent neck tension, no crimping will provide best accuracy.
