I would be interested in hearing folks' experience with this revolver. I own a .44 CA Bulldog, like it, and carry it frequently. It is one gun that I find fits my hand and feels the best of all the guns I own. Does the .40 offer anything more than the .44 or the .357? Thanks.

I was impressed at first, but accuracy never got better as the gun broke in. When a ejector pin went missing I sent it back, they installed a new cylinder, and barrel, but the gun now is loose as a goose. I may send it back again, and then sell it, or trade it.

Thanks, Walkingwolf. Knowing CA's I was afraid of such a report, but hoping for something more positive.

I saw these 40 cal wheel guns, I like 40 cal so was interested. Buuuuut theres that well known Charter arms quality, so never was willing to pony up the cash and hope it was decent.

one thing you will find in these forums is the ones dissatisfied post and the satisfied ones unusally don't. so what you hear is not a fair representation of the gun, I have had a nothing but good to say about the charter arms bulldog I have had for 3 years.

Not sure what your intended purpose is of a .40 S&W CA revolver, especially if you already have one in 44 Special. Unless you prefer not to chase brass from a semi auto.

I recently purchased a "Fit for Duty" Bulldog.

It's definitely does not have the S&W finish. But then again it's not an expensive piece. The frame has a few casting "pin holes" and the cylinder flutes have their share of machining marks. But the DOA trigger isn't bad and the throats are pretty uniform and not undersized. IIRC, a .432 sized bullet is a slip fit. Can't complain about the accuracy at 10 yards, either.

BTW, light for caliber bullets will shoot, considerably lower.

I had a few CA over the years had nothing but problem with them. I have a few 38/357 model that were junk. On my 44 model the cylinder crack. Send it back to the factory they put a new cylinder in it. The 38/357 model were also send back to the factory for repair they came back with the same problem. Only CA i still have is the 44 special i like the caliber but not the gun. Would i buy another CA NO.
