Cimarron Uberti 1866 in 22lr?

Anyone have experience with the 1866 22lr Rifles offered through Cimarron? I cannot afford one right now, but I can dream and save. How reliable is the toggle link action with 22lr ammo? How is accuracy? I really prefer the look and handling of a true toggle link action found in the 1860, 66, and 73 models versus the Marlin 39 or Henry Boy rifles. The picture of the rifle in the link is just a stock photo. The ones I have seen listed on gunbroker do not have a loading gate, they seem to use a front loading tube like the Marlins and Henrys.

should work. Winchester made 73's in .22. they loaded from the front of the tube also.

I realize this is old, but thought id throw in another .02c worth.

I had an Uberti 1866 carbine in the late 70s, it was probably THE most fun 22 Ive ever had. At one point I was buying and shooting a 2500 rd case of ammo per month in the gun. When it finally got dirty, id take the sideplates off, clean and lube, and back in business again. It started feeling a little sludgey cycling the acton, I never made it to the point of it not working.

It had a turn knob mag tube at the front end, and a port on the side of the mag tube with a sliding cover. It worked well. The carrier had a small spring steel hook that limited the cartridges rearward travel to keep the rds in the mag in correct placement so the carrier could rise, the bolt would then push past the hook to push the round into the chamber, and the carrier would drop. Simple, and worked fine. It wore on the side of the bolt somewhat over time, but never affected function. It also had scads of rounds through it. Looking back, a slight deburring of the cartridge stop hook would probably reduce or eliminate the wear.

Im looking for another one for sale, the google search is what led me here. I was hoping someone may have input on how heavy the 24" octagon rifles are in 22 cal. That seems to be about the only version made recently, or at least available through Cimarron on their site. They have been out of stock for quite some time.

I have one, a carbine model, 22LR, its been fun, accurate and reliable - early vintage
same deal to load (like any tube mag 22 I ever saw) no loading gate but a well configured port in the tube and screw end cap.

Also had one prior to this in 22 magnum but fun got expensive too quick with the magnum so it got replaced with the 22LR
