Just finished about 3 hours of making a firing pin for an 1889 Marlin rifle. Boy oh boy! The pin itself is not bad at the front but the rear is an odd shaped retractor that is quite complicated. You can't just fit a new tip to the pin as the cut outs for the lever don't give enough meat for the insert to hold. Below is a picture of the pin while I am cutting the clearance cuts with a ball nose end mill. If anyone needs the dimensions for an 1889 firing pin I have them... Now. 188510

I have a similar problem I have a ballard with one of the two version firing pins that are both rimfire and centerfire of course the one I need the centerfire one is broken. I have had no luck getting one made and actually thought of getting a hobby mill just to turn one out.

John that is mostly what I do the jobs no one else wants. Is yours the reversible or two different firing pins? Post a picture and I will see what I can do for you.

I have a 1889 in 38-40, they are so slick to use, It makes me wonder why I have any Winchesters when these ones are so easy to remove the bolt to clean. I may have to get the dimensions from you if I wear out my firing pin.
