I have a ruger super redhawk in 454 only has 75 rounds though it its been in my safe for over 10 years took it out the other day and found out that I can rotate the cylinder buy hand but when you cock it. it locks up would that be a bad spring?

I would break it down completely, clean it and then reassemble. See if that loosens it up.

If I understand what you are saying, it is supposed to lock up when you cock it.

Not good, should be locked with the hammer down too. Sounds like the cylinder latch spring and pawl have dirt in them.
make sure parts weren't lost.

tore it apart no dirt at all and no sigh of ware look factor new inside cleaned anyway did not help
