I have one ordered and while waiting for it to arrive have been getting ready to load for it. My question is should I wait and measure the throats of the cylinder or are the dimensions on BFRs consistent enough so that I could go ahead and order a mold based the dimensions that others have used to order their mold? Anyone have experience with the 475L in BFRs what have you found and what diameter mold did you order? I see Tom at Accurate has several in his catalog.
Thanks

My BFR measured .4766. I bought an Accurate Molds 478395BG. Tom's tolerance on the body of his molds is +.002, so if you order a mold at .476, it should drop at .478. But I suggest you read his site for yourself. I use WW/Lead at 70/30 water dropped. If I size the same day, they come out at .4766. If I wait at least 3 days, I get some spring back and they're .4770. This boolit shoots great. What barrel length did you order?

The one I worked with was close to .477" on the throats, and very consistent. I never slugged it, but it was always accurate and not prone to lead when boolits were sized to the throats. Good choice in gun/caliber :)

check with 44man. I doubt anyone on here has done more load development for a 475 bfr or for that matter any 475 then he has.

I have measured a few and throats are 4765", groove has been .475". Very even on all. I size to .476".
I shoot PB and the Lee 400 gr shoots very well too.

Tom at Accurate Molds designed a 420 grain flat based bullet for the 475L BFR. It loads and crimps about .050 short of overall cylinder length. It shoots very well in my 475L BFR behind a stout load of H110. Mold number is 48 420B it's shown on page 16 of his catalog. Crimping.050 short allows maximum powder capacity in the case and functioning reliability at the same time.

Greetings
Another 475 BFR happy camper. I do not remember exactly the throats of our 475. But somewhere between .476 and .4765. All were the same diameter and indexed like a revolver should. We sized to .477 and never had any leading issue whether with PB or GC.
