Current value of range scrap?

I have been searching through the forums and threads.... Havent seen much on current value of range scrap. We have quite a few indoor ranges here and i have working relationships with owners. My question is what is the dont buy number i should set for current market conditions. Plan on buying as much as possible from them all.

Is it .50/lb or 40 or 63.... figured i would crowd source a commodity price lol

that was kind of what i was thinking but i wasnt exactly sure what range scrap has done since the last threads.

In Michigan, brass is $1.05/Lb and lead pays $0.60/Lb. This is to my local recycler.

Local yard pays $.40 and sells for $1.00.

raw price is different than ingoted sale price around here.
ingoted and clean will get you 80 cents.[plus shipping]
raw will get you 50-60 cents easy enough.

got a 55 gallon drum full to about an inch from the top for $525 had some water in the bottom half. Havent weighed out the yield but i was amazed at the volume of copper that i pulled off the top.

Our new bottom pour smelter with 10" burner really made pretty quick work of a 55 gallon drum of range scrap. Took about 14 hours total and about 2 hours to clean everything up. Made for an intense weekend of smelting!

Think i did pretty good on the price. Probably will end up going to local gravel pit and use their scale instead of trying to add it all up on bathroom scale. THANK GOD for the fork lift!

I would make a guess at about 1,000 lbs useable after the clean up.

yeah i was guessing about the same we weighted out the first cast and it was 138lbs out of our new smelter that is an 11" across octogon that is 8" tall. We filled it up higher afterwards and did 9 castings.

"Range lead" as it is called is about .25-30 cents a pound in SW Michigan. "Clean lead" as categorized by the scrap yard is 45-60 depending on the day.

I don't know how much the local recycler pays to folks bringing it in but he did show me the actual price he sells it for to the company that comes around to pick up the non-ferris metals. A couple weeks ago it was exactly .60 per pound. So according to my calculations if your picking up lead for under .60 your getting a bargain.

Seems high. I'll have to go look at it. I am guessing is from indoor ranges in town. Maybe if i scraped the copper jackets back, be worth it, but seems high to me, when I can get pure for just about that from same recycler. it's a cash-only deal, so i am guessing money talks
