Hello guys and gals.

I'm looking for some input on a design.
It would be for Marlins and 458 socoms. The one 458 I have experience with has as little throat as a Marlin. I think a reduced nose around .440 or maybe a little bigger would be good. Suggestions?
Im thinking around 325 grains. Gas check base.
Round nose flat point.
What do you guys think?

Smoke has a lot of 458 SOCOM experience.

The throat is longer on the PTG reamer than on the original reamer specifications for .458socom. My .458 barrel uses the original specs on the chamber so the throat is a little shorter and tighter. I can use my Ranch Dog 350gr and MP .462 hammer bulles in my .458 but I have to seat them very short due to the section in front of the crimp groove being bullet diameter. Even sized to .458" and seated short I'll get some rubbing of the throat. Problem is accuracy wise my barrel doesn't care for .458" bullets. The 46-350VG and 46-405VG bullets (piledriver clone) can be seated much longer and not hit the throat even sized to .460" because of the negative nose tolerance. The sizing die does not touch any of the bullet forward of the crimp groove. Its an Accurate mold and he has the specs on his website so you can compare. A round nose flat point should not have problem feeding, the piledrivers and other bullets (with a big metplat) feed well in mine.
