A few days ago I was asking about the best mold for pouring liquid bullet lube into that would release the solidified lube easily. Many Thanks to Jon K, he put me onto the idea of using Rubber Maid plastic containers. They are square bottom and have plenty of draft on them for release once the lube is solidified.

Jon K assured me that if I put the solidified lube into the freezer for a few minutes to harden it , that it would pop right out of the molds, he was RIGHT ! !

My lube is :

40% Lar's Carnuba Red 2500
40 % NRA Formula 50/50 Beeswax and Alox
10% High Pressure , Black Moly Grease
8 % Johnson's Paste Wax & Dextron II Trans. Fluid
2 % STP

Today was " Lube Melting / Pouring into Molds Day ".

On this 1st photo, look to the extreme right, you can see the lube in the containers sitting in a cool water bath to speed up cooling.

I've shot a good bit of this particular lube recipe in the past already. For my cast bullet needs pistol and rifle up to 2,100 fps, it has never failed me.

I don't know what the lube would do past 2,100 as 99.9 % of my cast bullet shooting is " Sub 2,100 " ? ?

Ben,

I will bet that formula has never failed you. That's basically 5 lubes in one. LCR, 50/50, SAECO Green, LithiBee, and Johnson's Tumble.

And 2100 is fine. But that lube is sorta like wearing a Tuxedo to McDonalds.

When the day comes that you get tired of hamburg, there is always steak. And relax, I believe that you will already be dressed for it.

I have had good results with just plain 50/50 Beeswax / Alox, but it is awfully gummy, greasy and sticky.

My formula doesn't display those characteristics and leaves the bore shiny and clean.

It handles cleaner and doesn't stick to everything like the NRA formula.

Really? The lithium grease, STP, and NRA formula generally are stickier. But the combo isn't? OK

Does that need a heater?

It usually works better in Jan and Feb with a little heat, but at room temp in my basement where all my loading is done , it works just fine during all the other months.

I'll have to sit a 75 watt bulb close to the lube resv. in the winter months.
