Howdy Pards,
I have an older not in production hollow cavity bullet..sierra part number 8320
That brings me to their in production hollow point bullet.

They are not the same bullet. Mine being a more fragile design. I'm leary of using the same loading data.
I don't want to down load to much for fear of sticking a bullet in my barrel.
I don't want to load to hot because of reports of the jackets shredding off at to high a velocity.

I want juuuust right.

So I have been looking online and in my books for hollow cavity load data.
With no luck so far.

Has anyone used these hollow cavity bullets with success?
I have a selection of powders to try.
Thanks for any information

Inter web search provided this information. Looks like it can run over 1300 fps since they list a BC for it over that velocity. I'd probably look at a 125 gr listings in one of the new loading manuals and work up from the mid point. It is listed on first page, 5th down on right side. Good luck.

What caliber are you loading? for sierra #5 shows the 8320 at 2100fps in a 257mag rifle And describes the bullet as high velocity and rapid expansion suitable for all 38/357 handguns or rifles
Can scan a page for you when you let us know what your loading it in

The Sierra manual is an absolute wealth of knowledge well worth having in a reloading library

I used to load that bullet with 20 grains WW296. It frag'd like crazy in water jugs, completely coming apart. Their old 140 bullet, too, so I stayed with the 140 grain jhc just for a little more weight. Both were accurate from a 6" GP100.

With a max load of 2400 those were real tough on woodchucks!

What is the firearm? I now own my late father-in-law's S&W model 19. He split the rear of the barrel on this revolver, returned it to Smith for repair and got a letter telling him not to shoot high velocity 125 gr bullets in this handgun. The model 19 has a flat ground on the bottom of the rear of the barrel to make room for that bushing on the cylinder axle. Too great a shock to the forcing cone will and did crack the barrel on each side of that flat. I don't know if that's true of the stainless versions of this K frame revolver.

I pushed these bullets to 950 fps in a 38 Special and they did a good job on varmints.
