Anyone recommend someone that mills a pistol slide to accept small red dot optics? Would prefer a cast boolit member (keep in the family).

Thank you in advance.

I found a dovetail slide by Weigand for my Ruger Mk III 22/45 . Not too expensive, solid system, no problems with it in the last year.

Pictures? what gun what sights?

I have been wanting to try a red dot on top of a semi (I have one on my Ruger Mark II, and love it). Thinking about a Glock 17C. I really haven't decided on the pistol yet. Yes, I know I can get a dovetail adapter that fits in place of the rear sight. Was wanting to install the red dot, in addition to iron sights. I haven't picked the red dot yet. Right now, just in the planning stage.

There is a company that either mills Glock slides or maybe makes new ones for the Glocks that use small, co-witnessed red dot sights. I have seen videos of Ian using them on either Forgotten Weapons or Inrange tv, but I couldn't find it today.

The concept is valid, but I don't have enough experience with using dot sights on handguns to justify the expense.

Excellent small business and you cannot beat the price/customer service. Ask for Chris.

This is something I would let someone who actually knows what he is doing, do for me. I own a machine shop but am not willing to do a trial and error on my Glock slide as replacing it is not cheap. Glock slides are hard! and they are not easy to machine. Also the depth of the cut is critical because if you go too deep the slide is junk. Tapping the holes in the hard material could prove to be a problem. Best to let someone who has done it before lots of times,,, do it.

There are several outfits that do complete slide mods to Glocks and even have replacement slides if you don't have one to hack on.

Try these guys.

Neither of these outfits is cheap but both are at the top of the Glock modification business.

Also be prepared to spend @$500 for your optic. The Trijicon with no batteries is what everyone is using because it never runs out of batteries. it runs on Tritium.

Next down the line is the Leupold.

I have a Burris Fast Fire but having to turn it on and off gets old real fast. I want a G23 and it will have a Trijicon on it when done. This is for Carry Optics IDPA.

Another way that might be cheaper is to just buy a Gen 4 Glock MOS which is already set up for the optic.

Hope this helps.

If you haven't bought the gun yet, I can speak to the G17MOS as a solid option. Mine wears an FFIII and the POI is about as low as you can get. ALG (sister, or I guess spouse-company to performance AR-parts manufacturer Geissele) makes the 6-second Mount, which is the lowest bridge mount currently made for a Glock and only requires the removal of a sight for installation.

I have not had any of my slides cut after the fact. I qualify for the Glock Blue Label discount, and the cost of having my G22 milled out was enough to just sell the G22 and buy a 17MOS.

I milled the slide on one of my G-17's for a Burris FF III and it came out really well. Milling and tapping was no issue at all and I even filed the finish radius' on each end. I think you will really like the red dot if you do it!
