Anyone shooting the Uberti 1871 Hunter Carbine? Anyone doing it with black powder ?
Anyone even familiar with the rifle? I have a chance to buy one for a pretty good price but I'm undecided. It's a tiny little thing about the size of a Stevens Favorite. Weighs about 4.5 pounds on a good day. Obviously gonna be a kicker at that size so I was thinking it might be a hoot with black powder loads. Recoil doesn't bother me much so I'd surely try some full power smokeless loads just because but I'm thinking the real fun of something like this would be reduced loads in smokeless or black with something like the Lyman 385 grain rn or even some collar buttons for the kids.
I'm not generally a fan of short barrel guns of any kind but this thing fascinates me for some reason. I think the actual barrel length is 22" but the overall gun size makes it seem tiny. It's basically a 1/3rd reduced scale rifle and it's just is nagging at me to buy it. I find very little first hand info on them available on line so thought I'd ask here.
