We got a one day reprieve from the rain so Buckshot and I drove up the mountain to do a little shooting. He took some pistols and I took one of my single shot rifles. It is a Martini action that was a British Army rifle. It now sports a very heavy barrel made by B.W.DARR. The rifle weighs 14 LBS. I have no idea why my friend didn't make it a bench rifle instead of something no one could shoot off-hand. Whoever did the work in putting the rifle together did a first class job. The wood work is flawless. The barrel is beautiful and it does shoot. The bullet is a 165 grain from a Hoch mold and the powder charge was 12.5 GR of 4227. The stock is much too long for me and having a hooked butt plate it does not lend itself to shooting from the bench. I did manage to get a decent group despite a heavy trigger pull. I was only shooting at 50 yards but I would say the gun shows much promise. I asked Buckshot to try it off-hand just to get the picture. He does show good form, don't you think?
