Has anyone ever converted a Lee bullet feeder mechaism for a Hornady LNL?

I never used one on an LNL but I did own the Lee bullet feeder. It was the one Lee item I bought that was a complete waste of money. I really would have been better off burning the money at least I wouldn't have wasted the time trying to make it work for more than a few hundred rounds.

I gave it to another member here awhile back, I hope he's not mad at me.

That said I have had good results with the other 3 brands of bullet feeders I use.

I don't like my Hornady bullet feed dies. They'll drop a whole tube of bullets on the ground without warning or refuse to drop a single bullet at all. I was hopping for something better

I use them on My Dillon 550, they work great for me, I have loaded more than 15000 rounds of cast bullets for 9mm, 380 and 45 ACP

Never thought of putting the Lee feeder with the 550. Sounds interesting, any chance of a picture and a 'how to'?

A couple of thing that you have to do, first you have to use a lee bullet seating die. The die is beveled to mate with the bullet feeder arms, I operate it by hand with the L shaped lever where it normally would mate up with a rod that hooks to the turret on a loadmaster.
There is a guy on the internet that makes new turret plates for the Dillon 550 but I chose to do it manually. It works 100% of the time with both plated and cast bullets. I load all four tubes and just load.

When they work they seem great, then the plastic begins to loose tension and they start spitting bullets or they don't wait of the fingers to come back before "self feeding".

It was something to play with but didn't make the operation any faster. Even if the feeder actually worked you still have to pick up every bullet (some more than once after you find them), orient it base down and drop it over a hole. If you just do that over a case vs a tube, you haven't lost much.

Not perfect either but it doesn't start chunking bullets, rather keeps on working.

The Hornandy bullet feed dies I purchased required disassembly,cleaning then deburring. As purchased they were very frustrating. The RCBS feed dies were frustrating and sub par. Using jacketed and plated flat based work best for me. The bevel base are problematic due to the way they feed through the tubes.
