went out coyote callin a few days ago
it was really windy and very cold
been calling different spots off and on all day but no takers
set up and started calling another spot and seeing all kinds of fresh sign
started calling and called for over 30 min when I was just thinking about leaving
when on my weak side a complete 90° from where I was facing I
see a coyote come out of the bush and walk on a two track for may be 20 yds
and jumps back into the mess he crawled out of,bout all I could do was hit the safety on my
rifle and turn and he was gone [smilie=b: That sure got me rattled up and what fun [smilie=6:

I get more excited predator hunting than deer hunting. When they come charging in to your call or a group comes in many that gets your heart pumping.

There are a few guys that use predator calls here to hunt bears, and supposedly have good luck with it.
A couple of years ago I read about a guy that was calling hopeing for a yote, fox or even a lynx, but called in a grizzly. He claimed he would not be going out calling anymore with a 223 as his only firearm. It seemed like it felt pretty small under the circumstances. lol

YEP. I've gotten away from chasing the dogs but still have many fond memories of watching them come into a set. Hard to get enough of that experience. Alas, priorities have to come first, though.

went out again today no luck
I think I was running them out from the noise
of the driving in,we had rain then it froze so it made driving very noisy :groner:

Yep I much rather hunt predators. Also enjoy bird hunting but that is more about the dogs working as at this point I do not feel the need to limit out.

Had one come out on me @ 10:00am in the morning while shooting prairie dogs a few years back in ND.

He took a 58gr VMAX from my 243 Winchester Model70 Hvy Varmint.. Bullet him square in the chest from

110yds.. Velocity @ 3800fps caused him to lose ALL lnterest in his Last Meal
