View Full Version : about the soww's with 3.14% sb

in the sticky there is a chart and pic of the different sow's and what they have in them. according to the chart ( which I have no reason to doubt) the sow's that have a grey epoxy paint type coating have 3% sb, and no tin.do you guys keep them with your cow's? I was going to throw them in with the lyman#2 batch I am putting together ( just waiting on one box of monotype) and I will have 125lbs #2 w/1%cu. I am glad this chart was available, because now I will kow I have pure lead in my soww bucket, not antimonial lead, albeit a low%.

The painted SOWW's are the same as COWW's and get thrown in with them. The unpainted SOWW's are about pure Pb and get smelted separate.

the more of them we get from India and China the more they are going to be different than the chart.
WW's have changed through the years.

The ones that you are talking about get melted with my clip-on weights. All others go into the soft lead pot.

Yes, we have lead mines, but I do not believe there are ANY lead smelters operating in the US. I believe that lead is either shipped in or recycled now...

yeah, they are all closed from what I hear, and lightman, that's what I thought I would do, I just wondered how many people even knew about these ( I didn't till I read that sticky.) thanks a lot
