HI,
WELL AS SOME OF THE OLDER BOARD MEMBERS KNOW, I HAVE WANTED TO GET A RUGER REDHAWK IN 357 FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
WANTED IT IN SS & 7&1/2' VERSION.
WELL AT LONG LAST I WILL HAVE ONE, IT WILL BE IN 5&1/2'" BUT I CAN LIVE W/ THAT. OOH YEAH!
CAN'T WAIT , IT WILL BE SHIPPED MON.
HAVE SHOT MANY 357'S PYTHONS, L FRAMES, K FRAMES, N FRAMES, SECURITY SIXS, & BLACKHAWKS. NONE FIT ALL MY REQUIREMENTS.
BLACKHAWK WAS STRONG ENOUGH BUT SINGLE ACTION.
ALL THE REST WOULD HAVE SHOT LOOSE W/ MY LOADS.
NOW AT LAST I'LL HAVE WHAT I SHOULD HAVE STARTED WITH!:Fire:

Lucky stiff

I missed a blue 7 1/2" several years back by 5 min

I alway wondered if they made a 7 1/2" with scope mounts

That IMO would be close to perfict

There is a SS redhawk 5.5" .357 on GB going for $350.00 4 days left. I didn't know they made them in .357. Same as .44 but drilled for .357:drinks:

HI,
YES , IT WAS 1 OF THE 3 RUGER REDHAWKS IN 357 LISTED THIS SUMMER.
VERY UNUSUAL TO SEE 3 IN 1 SUMMER. I USUALLY ONLY SEE 1 PER SUMMER FOR LAST SEVERAL YEARS.
NEVER SHOT ONE YET, BUT WILL REAL SOON!
OOOH YEAH!:Fire:

I just let a .357 flat top ruger 3 screw go for $250.00. Could kick myself for that...

If that Flattop was any where near nice some body ought to kick you [smilie=1:. Seriously though that was a good deal, probably never see another. We live and learn.

HI,
Got it on wed.
Thurs. shot 66 jacked to fire lap it, could tell it had been shot very little.
I WILL FIX THAT!
Frid. after cleaning it, shot 111 rounds in load developement. Best load so far 12.9grs. wc820 under a 180gr gc. Pb bullet. Started at 12grs. went to 13.4 grs. easy extraction & no cratered primers.
Will test RUSSIAN UNIQUE later on.:Fire::-D

My 45 colt redhawk has shot 2 inch groups at 50 yards sometimes and I'm very happy to see that with iron sights.I wish I could get a 357 someday.Redhawks can take heavy loads and not loosen up.

HI,
Well have 250 rounds threw it.
TOLD YOU I WOULD FIX THAT UN-AMERICAN LACK OF ATTENTION TO A FINE FIREARM BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER.
Have to be at an evolutionary biology class all next week 7A.M to 7 P.M. so will have to just miss it. It is now named ROCKBITER.

Don't know how to post pictures.
Did an earlier post on loads w/ Wc820.

More later.

HI,
650 rounds fired, even w/ my old heavy load of 13.1 grs of WC820 UNDER A 180GR GC bullet this Redhawk is fun to shoot.
Check posting # 7 for my 1st accuracy load trials.
1st 50 rounds were jacked to do a bore breakin as I could tell the used gun had not been fired much.

Modified the Pacmyer presentation grips by cutting finger grooves. Did it for 2 reasons :
1) Gun is now an exact match to my 44 redhawk, except shorter barrel & in 357.
(cross training is great).
2) Finger grooves should help me maintain a consistant grip.

Sounds great, maybe a spare cylinder to convert to .357/44 Bain & Davis would be fun? Maybe a spare cylinder converted to 9x25 Dillon, then some custom full moon clips??? Hmmm, now that gets' me to think about looking around.

I just happened across this one on another board:

Not sure what they go for but if anyone is local to this guy it might be worth a look..

HI
Well I have fired 900+ (hot) rounds through the redhawk so far.
Most into the new bullet trap. Both gun & trap doing fine.
The rubber flaps in the bullet trap are beginning to look like shredded wheat though.
:Fire:
Told you I would FIX this pistols neglected state.
I might even get it broke in before the summer ends.
Have to attend a science methods class next week to keep my teaching cert. up dated. RATS! It will probably make shooting difficult.
Now you know why I chose BOOM BOOM as my nickname.
Kingstrider that looks like it has not been shot much.
I would buy it if I did not already have this one, price $5-600, would be a good buy.
Wildman Jack & Lucky Joe , my wife owns my old ruger blackhawk 357, bought in the early 70's, I put a 9" P.O. ACKLEY target barrel on it.

HI,
Have been over to Ted's my friend's House, we are making grip holders for a redhawk to fit his Caldwell machine pistol rest. As I did my original accuracy load work up over sand bags , I will redo it.
Plan to try WC 820, RUSSIAN UNIQUE, 700X, & 2400 WITH A SEACO 180GR. GC.
Will also redo all my old work on the 44 redhawk, to eliminate human error.
Ted was talking mounting a scope, but I am a bit reluctant to drill & tap the pistols.:Fire:

HI,
I may be a little bit on the fring, but I am not THAT crazy.
Some fool did blow a 44 Redhawk on a silloett range long ago I HEARD TELL.
Result = Super redhawk & The redhawk was discontinued to prevent lawsuits from idjits.:Fire:

So what twist does a .357 Redhawk have?

I notice you're shooting long/heavy for caliber 180 grs. I wonder if it has a 16" like the Blackhawks.

HI,
Well it is just about time for the Blk powder deer hunt, and school started at end of Aug. which really interfered w/ shooting. So will have to clean my new used pistol.
Have shot at least 2000 rounds out of it so the neglect is fixed.

Actually, the Red Hawk is still in production in .44 magnum and .45 Colt in two barrel lengths in stainless steel:

If your preference is blued, they offer it in Blued with 5½" barrel:
