I'm looking for manuals with load data for pistol type powders in rifle calibers and ideas on a good all around load manual for the shelf. I've read where load data for loads using Unique type powders in 30-30/30-06/308 type cases is in older Lyman manuals but not included in newer editions. There's a lot of good information for loads on this forum but I'm wanting a hard copy manual and need info on which editions include this data so I can make up some mild cast boolit practice loads for my 30-30/30-06/308's and eventually use to introduce my kiddo to full size rifles.

Also looking for a good manual to keep on the shelf of general loads across different powders and bullets. I have printed out load data for the powders (Alliant & Hodgon online data) I have in the calibers I shoot, but a more generalized hard copy for the shelf would be nice.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks guys.

The original Lyman Cast Bullet Manual, small book, is about as good as they come.

Examples found in Lymans 46th Edition with Unique in 30/06 for a 151gr #311466 would be from 12.5gr (1636fps) to 17.0gr (1941fps).
For a 170gr #311141 would be from 12.0gr (1504fps) to 16.5gr (1811fps).
It also lists other powders for those and a 113gr #311359, a 169gr #311291 and a 210gr #311284 with Red Dot, Green Dot, Herco, 2400, etc.
Not to mention the various jacketed stuff.

The data is no where near cat sneeze or mouse fart loads but as low as half the pressure and velocity of usual loads.

If this is what you are looking for, the manual is available used and a few new ones at places like e-bay and amazon.

My old Lyman Cast Bullet handbook has many pistol powder/shotgun powder loads listed. In fact for some cartridges that is all it lists... like for .375 H&H magnum of all things!

Many are nice loads for plinking or conserving powder and lead while punching paper at moderate range. However, they do not tend to show typical rifle powders loads and pistol shotgun powder loads for same boolit weight which is odd in my opinion. So for one boolit style and weight in say .308 they show all pistol/shotgun powders then for a different weight they show all typical rifle powders. Go figure!

Another good source of info you are looking for though not a hard copy book is:

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?13425-Cast-Bullet-Loads-for-Military-Rifles-Article

Lots of good info there for light to moderate loads for a variety of cartridges. Maybe not quite mouse fart loads but some are pretty light.

The RCBS Cast Bullet Manual #1 is also a valuable resource.

Lyman cast #3 is the best I have found for fast powders in rifle.

I researched this heavily 3 years back when I got back into shooting. Wanted to be able to load pistol, rifle, shotgun with one powder. I choose Red Dot, partly Ed Harris "the Load" partly because a lot of other people used it and posted data.

I found a copy of the Lyman #3 on Amazon last year, cost me double what the #4 cost but well worth it in my opinion.

I will say that while Red Dot may not be the fastest or best powder for every caliber. In every caliber I have tried I have been able to find a load that works. And that gives good accuracy.

And after starting from zero 3 years ago I am now sitting on 30 + pounds of Red Dot and Promo.

Smaller calibers 4.6 grains is where I would start.

Larger ones you can go 10-13 grains with no issues. 13 grains behind a 310 grain .430 boolit gets me cloverleaf's in my .444 marlin single shot.

I've a copy of the Alberts bullet co. loading info for the 'scheutzen' 150 grain swaged PB bullet they produced years ago. It had loads that were under 1200 fps for 30-30, 308 and '06. Mostly American powders but some foreign also. They had velocities listed but no pressure data.

If I can find someone to scan it we'll see about getting it posted.

I remember those bullets. Shot thousands of them in the '06 with 7 grains of Bullseye.

I no longer have the data sheet, but would love to have a .pdf if you could get it scanned and post it here. That data would be wonderful with a plain-based cast bullet such as Accurate 31-155D

I work in a research library and have access to sheet fed, book edge, and overhead document scanners. There are all the usual copyright issues, but the Alberts bullet load data should be public domain material as they give it away.
That said, for quality, most of the current class of smart phones, on an inexpensive tripod, provide as good a picture as our older document scanners that cost thousands each.
If it's worth the cost of mailing, I'll scan it and mail it back to you.

Lyman 45th Edition is another good source on reduced loads.

Looks like a co worker will try to get it sent on his phone. It may take a couple so please be patient.
