Don't know 'bout y'all, but if I get home at night and I don't have any new acquisitions to melt and pour into ingots, I feel just a little bit lost.

I just sit there on the porch, staring at my burner. Missing its hiss and glow...

my loading bench is still covered in cast bullets so I have no excuse to cast more.....but the casting bench looks lonely and dusty every time I walk past it outside.

sometimes I think about melting perfectly good boolits, just to cast again, maybe to play with the newest mold addition....

I wouldn't go quite that far! Ingots yeah, boolits no.

I realy find casting relaxing.Keeps my mind busy and off everything else.my ammo cans are full of boolits plus many bags.most of my brass is full.I melt and mix lead in 150lb batches. My garage is littered with ingots.I am thinking on making a bigger pot. My favorite scrap yards are out of lead I am lost.I have a new mold comeing mondy and 150lbs of alloy waiting. Yea might be!!!!
Oh yea have meted boolts they got dusty cuz I go a better mold lol

I smelt when I've got over 100 lbs to smelt. Seems like a waste of time otherwise. Even though I have a very limited number of molds I've been casting 4-5 days a week since I started a couple - three weeks ago.

My wife has saved me a couple more coffee cans , so I will soon fill them up . What I really need to do is go out back and make more empty brass , this week past I took advantage of my down time and knocked a few hundred holes in my wood pile .

Yes. Cant wait for drier weather to make ingots. Ingots are just a bit funner than boolits.
When my ladle is empty so am i

I thought I'm the only one asking myself this question. I'm addicted to molten lead. No explanation whatsoever.

I'm more of a binger. I get real into it for a while (usually winter) then layoff when the warmer weather arrives and other activities start to open up.

Don't think I could force myself to melt large quantities of cast boolits. But there's nothing better than drinking a cold one and waiting for that lead to melt. Except maybe admiring the ingots at the end.

It's without explanation for me as well. Love to smelt and cast when I can do it! There is just some fascination about the whole molten lead thing, and resulting boolits, that gives me pleasure. Then again, I'm like a dog with this whole hobby/lifestyle:

Mining lead: Oh boy! My favorite!
Smelting: Oh boy! My favorite!
Casting: Oh boy! My favorite!
Prepping brass: Oh boy! My favorite!
Reloading: Oh boy! My favorite!
Shooting! Oh boy! My favorite!

I sometimes think I'm not supposed to enjoy smelting and casting as much as I do, but there it is: a big grin on my face the whole while.

I'm going to get some cash and buckets Monday or Tuesday and go hunting for wheel weights. I've got this itch to scratch. Love smelting/melting. I use my pot 4-5 days a week. I'd like nothing more than to have a ton of stuff to smelt. I might try and convince my wife to let me have a $100 and her assistance to go to the scrap yard and pick up some lead there.

I've got this itch to scratch!

Looks like I joined the right club.
I'm new to all this, but last weekend I melted some ingots, back into ingots of course.
Why? Because the cupcake mold was overfilled and the ingots were mushroomed out.
The extra bonus, was that I netted one "extra" ingot out of the process.

Smelting, casting, reloading, shooting. I am not an addict. I just have not been able to stop! (For the past 53 years). I'm sure that I will quit on or about the day that I die.

Nope. You can't have to much lead

I caught the melting and casting bug also. I've re melted my boolits 2 times and my ingots 2 times. Don't have time to shoot my good boolits yet. Think I'm gonna need more powder.

Over the years, I've grown tires of dealing with the general public.
I dream of having a job sitting in the back corner of a warehouse building "widgits".
Smelting/melting lead would also be a distinct pleasure.

Do you find yourself picking up wheel weights in the parking lot? O.K.
Stealing them from parked cars in the lot, with a 5 gal bucket. When everyone is Black Friday shopping. Sometimes not O.K.

I've thought about it.

Truck stop would be more fruitful?

Less hassle with security at the truck stop.
