Yesterday I broke out my new Lee 20# pot and melted some unknown lead. The pot worked flawlessly with no drips. After reading so many posts about a drip-o-matic I was worried.
The lead was given to me, in 1# ingots. It seems soft so I'm thinking it is fairly pure lead.
I cast about 30 boolits, and after the first 10 or so they started coming out nice, well filled out with no wrinkles.
I measured them with both a caliper and micrometer. I'm getting .356 to .3565. They weigh 126 to 127 grains.
Is the heavy boolit a sign that it is pure soft lead, or is that the nature of the Lee mold?
Will a different alloy cast slightly larger diameter Boolit?
