View Full Version : Question about part for old Ideal 45

In addition to my RCBS LAM II, I have two old Ideal 45 sizers. They really are great machines, as long as you don't overstress them, which I don't. I really like keeping a dedicated sizer for each lube I use, rather than cleaning one out to switch.

Anyhow, my only complaint is that the plunger that pushes the lube down doesn't really seal that great. I get "ribbons" of lube extruding up around them. Its really not that big a deal, but it bugs me.

Did I read somewhere here that the current plunger off of a modern Lyman 4500 will interchange? I know the RCBS one won't, the threads are different , and the RCBS one is just a bit too small in diameter to seal the reservoir.

Yes, the new Lyman 4500 one will fit the old 45.

Yes, Item 2 will fit the #45 and 450 and 4500
but it will NOT fit the #1

Sorta yeah, and sorta no.

We surely call the 45 a Lyman. and I'm not sure when Lyman took over Ideal?
I believe Lyman still kept some Ideal items labeled Ideal.
Pressman would probably know those details.

anyway, I have a few old 45 lubesizer boxes...they are all labeled ideal, just like this one on the right side of this photo.

Where you would normally enter payment info it says "No orders being accepted at this time."

Hopefully I'll be able to call tomorrow.

Received the nut today!

Guys, just so you all know what a great guy he is, codgerville had an extra pressure nut, so he sent it to me free of charge!

Does anyone know if Lyman has stopped selling parts? Those links send me to a "404 Not Found" Lyman page. I can't find any info at all for parts on their site anywhere.
