After fighting with my Lee mold for the last time, I decided its time for something better. I did not see a 300gr 45 mold at NOE, close but they were under or over. If it was 10gr be okay but most were closer to 20-25gr. I like their RG hollow point molds, maybe something else I should look at?

There was a GB for a much improved 300gr RF mold, it has better/deeper crimp grooves and the gas check shank actually fits.. I don't have a link for the GB or the mold thread maybe another member can chime in with that info?

The NOE SC454-290-RF RD is within 10 grains and the store is stock full of them .
I just double checked , 290 grains and in stock with RG option available .

Would like a hollow point that came to 300gr, vs a 300 gr thats 275 with a hollow point. They had the 325gr, even the HP was 319gr according to the little picture.

What firearm will you be firing it from? Here's MP's Ruger only mold. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn271/ericlee1971/45%20ruger%20only_zpskc2nbyom.jpg (http://s306.photobucket.com/user/ericlee1971/media/45%20ruger%20only_zpskc2nbyom.jpg.html)

Not a HP mold but you could always send it off to Erik and have it turned into an HP mold. Should end up around 300gr.

I'm on the lookout for about the same as the op. I've studied the accuratemolds.com website and I'm curious obout the mould in the catalog that's marked 45-300 LG. It looks like a similar version of the 300 gr Lee mould. Is far as I can see it looks a lot like it. I have not yet had experience with moulds from this company but I understand it's great moulds! I have many moulds from NOE and it sure is a giant leap up from Lee! Actually it's unfair to compare them.......

Maybe this 300 LG from accurate moulds would serve your purpose.

if you want one of the most accurate 45 300 grain bullets ive found try the rcbs 300swcgc. Ive yet to find a 45 that doesn't shoot that bullet exceptionaly well.

Im going to use the bullets in a Rossi lever gun. I don't hunt with a pistol so don't really go beyond 250gr in any of my 45 colt pistols. It doesn't have to be a hollow point, just gotten used to those NOE molds, and having the option.

I had to leement the 300gr mold as usual to get usable bullets out of it. After a casting session with several NOE molds then switch to a cantankerous Lee mold. One of the alignment pins is loose enough it slides back and forth easily. So it would cast 2 good ones, then 2 bad ones, mess with it, cast 2 good ones. I got tired of it and tossed it in the trash can.

I was using my new NOE 250gr gaschecked mold, powder coated, could get 1800fps accurately out of the rifle. So thought why not try some 300gr, maybe get 1400fps. Only 300 gr I had was the Lee.

If it's to be used in the Rossi take a look at the accurate mold 45-310b it was designed to work in a Rossi 45 colt

In my Ruger revolvers I use Accurate 45-290H, which has a long nose to fit the NMB cylinder. ctg. OAL is 1.68" in .45 Colt brass.

Have you tried a six cavity from Lee? I love my NOE, Accurate and Miha molds, but I have a few Lee six bangers and the 452-300 is one of them. It rains bullets for my marlin and ruger.

Another option is the mihec hammer mold. It is a group buy that just closed and there should be some over runs.

There are a bunch. Among my favorites include:

I have a Rossi M92 lever-gun in .45 Colt. For serious action I load it with .454-180 L.B.T. "Long-flat-nose" boolets cast from WCWW alloy and powered by 10-12 grains of Unique. The 2-cavity mould cost about $125 but casts the most consistent in both weight and diameter of any mould, Lee, Noe, RCBS, Lyman, etc. etc. Even better, if you send the LBT folks a pound-cast of your rifles's throat, they will cut the mould to match, insuring accuracy with just about any load, high or low. A buddy of mine always said: "buy the best, cry once (over the cost)." LBT moulds have a propitiatory sprue plate that insures no internal voids. Boolits drop out like they are supposed to, and the famed LBT "meplat" is literally the "hammer of Thor" on most critters including monster Florida Piney woods rooters. No need for finicky hollow-point moulds and hard to drop boolits.

I've got the 6 cavity version of the Lee 300, it casts beautifully and I don't have any issue with gas checks, not even after powder coating them.

yep, have it & it works good in my Rossi 454/45 rifle & the 454/45s revolvers I have. I also have the MP hammer & the solid is 325-330 & big HP is right at 300-303 (with my alloyn & lube & GC). Made some but havn't shot any yet.

I have the NOE 350gr I'm looking forward to using. Haven't had a chance to since I got it.
