Has anyone here tried making this brass from another caliber?

9.3 x47R MB Target

I have pretty drawn a blank from my usual references.

Thanks

Is your rifle in 9.3x47R or 9.5x47R? I have 2 rifles in 9.5x47R and the original case for mine is based on the .43 Mauser case shortened and then necked down to .375" / 9.5mm. If yours is a 9.3 it could be a similar cartridge based on the .43 Mauser case necked to .366" / 9.3mm? It can also be made from shortened .45-70 cases or from shortened belted magnum cases (7mm RM, .300 WM, .338 WM, etc.) with the belt turned off and then sized and formed to headspace on the shoulder rather than on the rim.

You might need to do a cerrosafe chamber casting to get the proper dimensions for your cartridge and determine what parent cases could be used to form some "shooter" brass ...

Thank you for the quick response. A chamber cast is planned in the near future.
I have 45-70 and belted magnum brass laying around, so that is good news.

This is the basic process to convert full length magnum based cases into .43 Mauser (headspaced on the shoulder rather than rim). I go one step further and shorten it down to fit the 9.5x47R. I take the shortened cases down in steps using a .40-82 WCF sizer and then a .38-56 WCF sizer until they are a crush fit on the shoulder.

I need to get mine out and shoot them a bit! Too many darn projects and not enough time ...

Thank you again. Off to the gunsmith's tomorrow morning to have the chamber cast done. I printed this off with the alternate 9.3 dimensions written as a side note.
