I shot several nice cast groups today with my new Ruger # 1 Stainless, 308 Win :

I just may have found " The Load " for this rifle. I bought a new SAECO # 315 specifically for this particular rifle. This is the bullet that is tapered from the nose back to the gas check. Each driving band on mine, from front to rear, is getting larger all the time.

Looks like it may have been a good purchase :

Nice hole, Ben. Those #1's are great. I have one in 220 swift, it shoots just like yours.

My friend Denis shot my Ruger # 1 .308 Win. today, I saw that " twinkle " in his eye when he shot a group very similar to mine above.

He may be owning one soon also. Good money invested as far as I'm concerned.

Let us know if that group holds together when you move out beyond 'pistol range'.

i shoot 28.gr for 100 plus.
that 24.5 gr load is what the 7x57 likes though.
i knew that saeco would shoot. i have been saving my nickels to get one.

Yes, a real good load indeed.

I've shot this load at 100 yards, it shoots fine, on this particular day, I was shooting at 50 yards.

Wonderful group. When stuff like that happens, it just brightens up the whole day.

725:

Yes, makes you want to go back and shoot another 50 rds.
I guess that's what makes all this so much fun.

R5R, You could buy a Mountain Molds mold cheaper. Then you could have a shorter conical section, and a scraper groove ahead of the gas check.

I paid $80 for my SAECO 315.

I've shot this bullet in about 5 different rifles now. Deadly accurate in all that I've tested it in.
