Gunshow this weekend so i thought i might try out a pound of Reloader in my 30-06. Ive never used this line of powders and i have the books but what would everyone recommend for a starting point using 150-180gr for general use?

15 is closer to 4895.
7 is a super flexible powder in a ton of cases.
17 is wellll,,, a great idea, but not so good in practice, it can also be temp sensitive in some situations.

I like the 15, however that is the only powder i have used so far for J-words. I have some IMR 4198 for cast but have not tried it yet.

If loading .30-'06 for a Garand, RL15 is the powder of choice.

The most accurate load I've found for my Model 70 in 30-06 is 60 grains of Reloder 22 with the Nosler 180 grain ballistic tip. I've had this rifle since 1974 and have shot countless 150, 165, and 180 grain bullets by a number of manufacturers using a variety of powders. I also have a few thousand cast boolit rounds through this rifle and everything shoots good through it, but nothing compares to the Reloder-Nosler load.

Reloader 16 anyone? I cant find much on it except its supposed to be less temp densitive. Is it closer to 15 or 17 or is it going to take the place of both?

Reloader 16 anyone?

LOL I though that was a joke about RE16 I was just gonna tell ya to mix 15 and 17 together and you'd have RE16 as a bit of humor . I haven't bought many rifle powders in quite a few years . Never knew there was RE 16 till I just went and saw it on the Alliant powders site. and a few others I never knew existed

Yep, some of us old farts haven't a clue about the array of new powders on the market.

Well, that makes sense mixing them together. I was out of H110 so mixed Bullseye and H870 to get some more, i mean, that's how the powder companies do it right? :o

kind of but you gotta mash it with a hammer, otherwise it doesn't meter well.

my guess would be 16 would be closer to 4350 speed, they don't have anything in that area.
if it is, I might have to actually try some, I don't really have anything in that speed.

I haven't tried Rx7 in 30-06 but it works great in most of my medium case, medium bore cartridges. I'd buy a pound and try it, if it doesn't work for you in 30-06 it will work in another cartridge like 35 Rem, 375 Winchester and probably 358 Winchester...among others.

Coffee grinder works better, but it takes about 3 days before the coffee tastes right.
