I make them from 2"x2" angle steel.

slicing a piece of 6" pipe in half about 8-9" long would be about right.
you could do longer pieces of smaller diameters.
like a 12" piece of 4".
welding a piece of angle iron on the ends would make them sit level.

Hamilton Beach Mini Loaf Pans, Item #04460. The best place to buy them is Amazon.com @ $3.99 for a two pack.

Hope this helps.

I made some out of 3" c channel with 1.5" angle welded on the end. 8 total, all welds are on the exterior. They have worked well for me. I think they are about 6" long but cant remember for sure. If you can find someone to make some, I think you'll like them.

Here is what the ingots look like. Sorry, wrong ingots/mold. these are about 5 lbs per ingot

Here are the molds and boxed ingots they are about 7.5-8 lbs per ingot

I second the loaf pan, or angle iron form, or channel.

If you look center rear you can see the rusty angle iron molds used to make those bars. Those are 2 inch angle iron 8 inches long. I don't think they can get much over 3# at that length. (8 inch fits in SFRB or MFRB) I would guess 4 inch wide by 2 inch deep by 8 inch long would hold your 6# ingots. Actually about 1/8 inch under 8 inch long.

Full size bread loaf pan about an inch thick yields 10# slab, so the medium loaf pan might well be the right size. if you know your how heavy the lead from a full ladle is you can use that with water to find volume of water it takes to be 6# of lead, gives you an idea of how full a pan will be with 6# of lead.

I like 3" channel iron. 6" will give you about a 8 lb. bar for mass storage. I use differently shaped cast iron, portion cups, etc. for pot size ingots.

I just use the 8lb for pot size ingots in my lee 20 lb pots. A little preheating and it doesn't take long for the pot to get back to temp. Smaller ingots will not drop temp as much but after 10-15 lbs cast, a 5 minute break is welcome.
