OK I am thinking of getting a Henry 45LC big boy and wondered if anyone here has slugged their barrel
yes I know I need to do my own... just wondering what kind of sizes are you seeing .
are they closer to 452 or 454 or what ?

I have a Big Boy Steel Carbine that I got at Christmas time. I have run RCBS 45-255-SWC rounds through it sized at 0.452 and lubed with Carnuba Red. I measured the speed at 1125 fps. After 300 rounds I have zero leading.

1. The RCBS 45-255-SWC will not feed through the magazine as they end up too long. So I drop them right into the chamber. I will try another mold when I run out of loaded rounds.

2. Accuracy seems fine. I am shooting with factory iron sights and 50 year old eyes without glasses. I have no trouble hitting a 4" steel target at 65 yards which is fine for what I bought the rifle for. I don't want to scope it. I don't claim to be the best shot in the world.

I slugged my BBS but can't recall the dim. I will have to measure the slug. I shoot the Lee 452-200 rf and the 250 rf as dropped. Most run about .452"-453" Don't seem to have any leading.

since I PC anyway sizing down is no issue

Mine was closer to .453
I went with the Accurate 45-255A, per Toms recommendation and size at 454.
The targets I posted in the other thread were at 50 yards,FYI

Be aware that the NOE 265gr maybe to long in the nose. I have found with my carbine that I can not go over .310 from nose to crimp groove. I am looking at getting mold 240A from accurate, .300 to nose on that one. I size mine to 454 currently and have no problem cycling them but have not slugged the bore. My bad
