Just figured I'd pass this on. I may be slow but I'll pass it on anyway, as I'm not the only one that's slow sometimes................I was going through my tackle box the other day.

A while back I was given a few bobbers for fishing at night. I don't fish much at night, I hate skeeters. I can however be persuaded sometimes with a lot of beer and a catfish pond. Sorry got sidetracked..........

Those little LED lights for the bobbers make a heck of a good bore light! Most of all they aren't $20! I think you can get 3 of them in a pack at Wally World for 2-3 bucks. Fits any bore size, they turn on and off, and wont get stuck.

I keep hearin' about these but, all I've ever found at either of the two Wally-World's local to me are the kind with the little one-time use glow sticks. same thing with the ones in the archery dept. can you post a pik or two of the packagin' so's I can see if I've overlooked them?

I keep a bobber light in the glove compartment all the time. Just in case I happen come across a good buy. The problem with those CVA bore lights. Once its 2-button batterys are activated the bore light it starts to discharge being used or not.

I keep a few of these around, they can be bought or as I did; used an old window blind rod and cut it into pieces, used a heat gun to bend them (polish the ends, they do the work).

I use the 2 x AAA Streamlight pen light. Hang it partially over the muzzle, and it lights up the whole bore. It dopesnt have to go inside the bore. Never saw a reason to use anything else, and I can see down into the bottom of the breech chamber.

Pretty good idea fellers! I can see where these would be very handy to use on the small caliber rifles. I hate going to Walmart and managed to avoid going there for over 3 years....<sigh> I may have to go now.

Previously, I have never bought a bore light. I typically disassemble a free light, put the spring around the battery and let the spring pull the bulb tight to the battery. It doesn't fit small calibers though. Currently using a LED from a Simpson LTD ink pen.

I dislike going into Wally World, too. So, I found this on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6KOY93/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

10 in white color for $33.99 delivered. Push on, pull off, claimed battery life of 20 hours. Just one would seem to offer a near lifetime of bore viewing.

For everyday carry, I carry a Streamlight Stylus in a shirt pocket:

http://www.streamlight.com/en/products/detail/index/stylus-ul-model

Bright LED bulb, bright enough to light your way along a dark path or search inside a vehicle in the dark. Light will illuminate from the muzzle to the chamber of a rifle barrel or show a whole bore when shined on an open bolt face. Body will fit in a 3/8" hole.

Using bobber lights for years first seen them at bass-pro, warning I bought several, some still in package the battery went dead just sitting around. Buy as needed & check before leaving the store. Happy Trails.

All i did with the lighted arrow nock was grind off the 'ears' and rounded it up, polished the grinding marks up a little bit, its bright and works well in my 36, might even fit a 32? I think these ones are made by Carbon Express. Our Wally world stocks up on a bunch of archery stuff pre season, after archery season is over most of the stuff ends up in the bargain bin. I have got some REALLY good deals on broadheads and such.

looked again at both the Wally-Worlds local to me & none to be found. I did find the arrow nock lights but they're about 15 bucks for a three-pack.

the Wally-World in Radford used to do that. bought lots of stuff for pennies on the dollar for years. now, if it's not a big seller durin' the season they just never stock it again.

This one is very similar to the TWILL brand I have used for 10 or 12 years, but I've never found a TWILL light in Blue, after looking for several years and hearing others rave about the blue light for this very same use.

Here's the thing....a blue light, due to the way light waves "bend" is said to detect, or show spots of lead, much better than the RED, ORANGE, or GREEN light as those colors reflect the light while BLUE is supposed to be absorbed identifying a dark "spot" or "strip" in the barrel

I have absolutely no clue if this assumption and long time rumor is correct or not.
I am not knowledgeable enough about such things, albeit many on this forum are, and I would like to hear from those.
Right now I am going to order a package of BLUE and it shouldn't be all that long before I will know myself if this is just an old wives' tale, or if there is some truth in it.

Thanks Nueces for sharing this information.
