Finally finished another Martini project

Procrastination is one of my finer talents especially when making a living gets in the way.:-D I started this project 11 years ago, time flies when you're having fun. Anyway business has been slow so I've managed to complete 2 gun projects this fall/winter.
The rifle is in 357Mag. The wood is from Treebone Carving and has some really nice figure although it doesn't show up that good in these pictures. I saw a Sharps rifle with a browned barrel and case colored action and I was trying to duplicate that look but the browning came out pretty dark and has a Plum look which you can't see in the pictures. It still looks pretty good though.

The barrel is a 14 twist and if anyone has some pet loads for a 357 rifle I'd appreciate the help. I have a 200gr mold and a 150gr round nose mold in stock. The loads I tried yesterday at 100yd were dismal. I have some Lilgun which is suppose to be the ticket but don't have a clue where to start with that powder. Tried A#9, H110, and 2400 and they didn't look to promising.

I thought that shell flame was maple, this stock is walnut, but I see what you mean.

Thtat really is a lovely piece of walnut and the little martini sure deserves wood of that standing.

Beautiful rifle! Been wanting to make one like that as well with an old cadet I have in the safe. I do have another rifle in 357 mag that I put together, 1-16 twist Douglas barrel. Haven't tried cast in it yet because the cheap Winchester 158 gr. jhp bullets group at moa with 15.5 grains H110

I found one that looks almost 'zactly like that one, down to the PH sight on the rear. Mine is a rebore job someone did way before me, 1 in 16". I opened the chamber to .357Max and put a PH front sight on that I had in a drawer. I shoot the RD190PP pushed by 28gr of A1680, consistent groups less than 1" at 100yd, that's with a 2-7 scope that I made a mount for on the barrel just ahead of the frame. I still have an Ithaca .22 rifle that is essentially a Martini Henry rifle action. I've always liked that action. I shot a lot of ammo out of that thing.

Thanks, I hand rubbed Tung oil on that thing for at least 3 weeks. The finish looks about 2 inches thick in person but the filler didn't do that good of a job so I kept trying to fill the pores in that burl.
