I am considering purchasing a Henry big boy carbine in 45 colt as a companion to my judge
For those here that own a Henry 45 colt
What is the heaviest weight bullet you have accurately shot at 100 yds
What brand mold, weight, any issues cycling ECT
Thanks for any and all replies

I don't know about the Henry but my Marlin loves the 45-270-SAA. No problem with OAL and is good enough for anything in the SouthEast.

I'm putting together some Lee c300gr. that weigh 310 gr. with 10.5 grns. of Unique that I think will do well. Right now my most accurate load out of my Henry Steel .45 colt is the 250 gr.XTP in front of the same 10.5 grns. of Unique. 1 1/4" @100 yrds. and clover leafs @ 80yrds.

If it's as good as my 41, you'll love it.

I am not shooting a Henry rifle, but in my revolvers for 100 yard gong matches I use the Accurate 45-290H bullet with 3.5 grains of Bullseye in the .455 Mk1, 4.5 grains in the .45 Schofield, or 5.5 grains in the .45 Colt.

Henry 45 colt carbine will be here Monday, the Lyman globe and RCBS Cowboy dies on Wednesday, the skinner express rear sight and
NOE Mold Friday
By next Sunday I will be ready for the T-Rex hunt !!!

This saving money casting is getting expensive

It does and it will take some more monetary expenditure to scratch that itch.

I shoot a variety of cast of cast but for hunting load I shoot a Lee 310 Grain RF GC over 22 grains of WW296 it is a hammer. Then on the other end of spectrum 255 grain plain base HP from Mihec mould at 850 FPS. I gave this gun to my son who absolutely loves it. But I did take a nice rag horn elk with it a few years ago. Enjoy it.
