Lyman Sizing die

I bought a NOE 311-180Gr. FN mold from a member here and got a chance to cast a few yesterday.
The lead was COWW with a little lead printing letters (print houses used at one time) added in (about 10%)

All went well until I ran them through my .309 sizing die. They all came out .3065 to .307!!

As cast was .3095 to .310 the only reason to run them in the .309 die was to make them
more uniform and put the GC and lube on them...

I have a .308 sizing die as well and the same results??? Did not use the .308 die first because my barrel slugged out to .3085

Am I missing something here??? Did I rush the sizing should I have waited a couple days on this?

If the die is marked by Lyman to be 309 and it is 307, just send it back to Lyman. It doesn't matter if you bought it new or not, they wouldn't know anyway. It may take two weeks but you will get the correct die.

If the die is marked 309 and it sizes 307, just send it back to Lyman. They will replace it with the correct die. I did that with a double cavity bullet mold they replaced it in less than two weeks. I bought the mold used in a gun shop.

I thought maybe the die was marked wrong but when I used my .308 die and they also came out .307 I thought it was me. ( I used two different digital caliper's to measure with)

I think I will pack it up and send it back to see what happens...

well they measure their molds the same way.
so at least they are consistent.

if you have the time it might be interesting to re-measure your sized boolits in about a week and see what they are then.

Calipers or micrometers? That makes a big difference when measuring bullet diameter.

I agree this are Calipers....when I find my micrometer I plan on measuring again....

Just for grins I measured again tonight with the calipers and they all measured .308 to .3085 :confused:
