Hi Folks, new guy here and looking to see if any one knows the correct tang peep sight for the subject Colt Lightning rifle or a current Marbles that works? Best I've found so far is it was a Lyman coded "O". Of course I can't find one so wondering what may work as a substitute.
Thanks

one for the model 92 might be fairly close.
you may have to do some fitting, or even have a new base milled.
I don't know about the quality of the newer made ones though, I would look for a good old marbles or lyman to work with.

envious of the rifle, they are neat little guns.

Thanks. I have a couple of the newer Marbles on 94's, a 92 and a Uberti '73 and really like them, the positive click adjust is right on. They are close in fit and a little off on angle for the Colt but could be milled to work. I'm hoping with all the replicas that are out there someone has found one that needs little or no smithing.

It is a fun gun to shoot, came from my great grandfather. Relined the bbl and hard cast slugs work great. Now if I could see that rear sight...

I hear that.
I like peep sights but would go double broke trying to put them on all of the lever guns.
the USFA [colt copy] rifles are super nice too and that might give you another avenue to search [maybe?]
I liked shooting the one my dad bought years ago.

Marbles makes a new tang sight for the small frame Lightning, so maybe if you spoke with their customer service, they might know if that sight would work, but with a taller staff.

Here's what the pattern looks like for the Lightning:

This model 5508 repro Lyman-type tang sight from Taylor's, for the Colt Burgess, looks like it should fit:

Thanks Pietro. Did talk to Marbles smith, he said the small frame sight wouldn't work. You happen to know the screw spacing and tang angle on the small frame? I'll check out the Taylor's. Spoke to Ryan there last week and he gave me a recommendation for a sight, have to double check. Ex USAF too.
