Does it matter if the decapping pin is making the flash holes in new brass slightly larger when resizing the new 38 special cases? By this I mean you can tell it's not exactly centered in the flash hole and making the flash hole ever so slightly no longer round.

Flash hole spec is 0.078-0.082".

As you as you are loading to standard pressure, not +P there is no danger in them being a bit larger.

Should be no problem, but I would take that die apart and see why it's doing that.

Check your die and if the pin is bent. It should not be doing that.

Shouldn't be a problem. I'm loading the .45 ACP brass with the large primer holes on NT brass with no adverse effects. A little shouldn't matter unless you're really pushing it./beagle

Easiest way to tell if its bent? I took it apart and it appears straight.

Rotate the case in the shell holder and see if the pin strikes a different point.

If the pin isn't bent and is centered it could be the flash holes were made slightly on the small side.
Try a brand new pin just to see if the new pin does it. Keep extra pins on hand , you will need them sooner or later.

Another trick with die adjustment is to leave the decapping rod slightly loose and decap a case, leave the decapping pin in the flash hole and tighten the nut on the rod. This gets the pin in the flash hole and allows it to self center then tighten the rod.
Ever so slightly bent rods can give you the devil .
