Some of you might remember that I had asked for prayers for my cousin last August. He had a cyst on his forehead that showed cancer. Everything had gone well till this month when they found a new lump in his jaw, between his ear and jaw bone. He goes in this Friday for them to take a biopsy. Please keep him in your prayers, His name is Allen.

Amen. It's like being a criminal defendant awaiting a verdict from a jury. There's no way to do that truly gracefully for most of us. God bless him with a good diagnosis, I pray, and the strength and courage to face it if it's not, and some great surgeons who God can bless and get it gone again. Amen.

Father, Allen is in need of Your grace. He is suffering from a cancer issue and with that concern comes fear associated with it. Father, please guide the physicians that will treat him and heal Allen. Please take all fear away so that he can approach the healing process and restore him back unto his family. Father, please come to Allen's aide and give him the grace and healing that only You can grant. AMEN

That's not what we wanted to hear, but God has some purpose in everything he allows. Our task is to find that purpose, and be edified and chastened by it, usually. Prayers will continue and redouble. Cancer is such a vile thing! But God can take the worst things in this world, and use them to achieve good things. His power and wisdom is ... unlimited. We have solace in that, and in our redemption, whatever comes. But he's beaten it once, he can do it again.

Still praying here, BR. If he's eating well, that's a BIG plus, and at least a positive indication, and that's no small thing in these circumstances. May God grant him a full healing of his maladies, and grant him a long life. Amen.

brstevens, thank you brother for the continual updates on Allen. Still praying for his recovery and hope that he continues to improve....sickness after what he is having to endure is normal ..... but it is no fun for him.

Father, On this glorious Easter day, please remember Allen and remove his sickness that results from the meds he must take. Please heal him and walk with him as he goes through his regiment of treatment. Father, there are a lot of good men and women praying for healing, absence of pain, and grace for this man and I pray that You heal him as Your Son did when he walked this earth. AMEN

A lot of the "wonder drugs" we have today make us sick, or have undesirable side effects. I just had a go-round with some of that, but not to the degree your cousin is facing. The good part is that at least we DO have them, and there's better days ahead for the vast majority of those who have to go through these things. One of my dearest friends has been going through the same thing with his chemo and radiation, and he's had some very scary times with it. But now, he's over all that, and back to his usuall cheery self again! And he's glad he went through it, though while he did, he truly thought he was dying as he went through all the stages. Needless to say, he's very glad he was wrong about that dying part!

God bless your cousin and all who love him. Keep supporting him, and loving him, and praying for him. It matters.

I was wrong, he has 4 more treatments. The last one sometime in June. He was over last night. HE was eating well and his spirits still seem high. He did lose all his hair, but is joking about it.

Blackwater

Good to hear he's progressing well. As to losing his hair, tell him God only made just so many "perfect" heads, and the rest he covered with hair. That's what an old high school friend keeps telling me. His hair started falling out in the 10th grade! Now, he's been bald for well over 25 years. Probably 30 or more. But he's still a pretty good "ladies' man," and has zero problems with his not having hair. He makes more jokes about it than his friends do, and here in the South, if anyone has something we can razz them about, we make use of it! We don't make fun of folks we don't like. And he's got a good many friends, too!

Women have a lot harder time with baldness or very thin hair than us guys do, usually. Maybe it's God's way of helping us to be more humble???? It's just good to see he's responding favorably. I think all us older guys have friends and relatives who've bee through this, or maybe have gone through it ourselves. Cancer is NOT the "death sentence" it once was, and it wasn't all that long ago that there was really little we knew to do. So tell him he's richly blessed this happened when we are saving an awful lot of lives today. Kind'a puts it all in its proper perspective, I think?

Prayers continue.

Had his 4th treatment but the meds given to him after still problems. He is sick the 5 days he must be on them. Still after those 5 days he says he feels great. He came over this past Sunday and took me to the rifle range. Had a great time, he was not happy with his groups. New 260 rem on a Savage action he is playing with. Told him I could tell he is doing better because he was starting to complain about his shooting.
He is starting to get some hair or peach fuzz on his head. Said it look to him he might be becoming a red head.

I have a friend who's going through chemo now, and another who's going through things that there really is little meds to take for what ails him. These "Golden Years" CAN be quite a challenge. Thank God he has his Faith to see him through it all. And prayers for him continue. May God grant him a full healing of the cancer. Amen.
