I am confident that with the cheap and easy availability of commercial bullets coupled with my 1500+lbs of lead that I am set for life on projectiles. I'm a little concerned that as we continue to see the availability of wheel weight lead decline that we might all end up with huge piles of lead but not be allowed to shoot it anywhere. They're getting the lead out the wheel weights. They're getting the lead out of the bullets. What's next? In addition, we have a range here local that does not allow "assault weapons" which means I can't shoot 5.56 or 300AAC or 5.45 X 39 since everything I have is built on the AR platform except a couple 22LR bolt guns.

I am fortunate to live in an area where shooting is allowed on my back porch. Not sure I could get used to a place where I couldn't.

Lead is such a valuable and useful metal to science, industry and commerce, we can hope for its continued legality in our endeavors.

Maybe future EPA's will smile more favorably on gun ranges and sportsman clubs, rather than working to shut them down through excessive regulation and fines.

Or maybe I'm full of beans...?

Having a pile of alloy stacked up does a body good though, I must say.

....now that I think about it....
Is it odd that a range would limit "assault rifles"?

You might want to remind your rangemaster that assault is a behavior, not a piece of hardware.

I would agree of course and that particular range is almost always empty according to members. I wonder why? :groner:

If you live in SoCal, South Bay Rod And Gun Club out in Delzura. 6 ranges. 300 yard is always open unless it is raining. We see a plethora of ARS out there daily. $100 a year membership gets you to shoot 8am to 4pm 7 days a week unless it is raining or for matches or mateience.

I'm glad I still live in America.

My club/range does not allow fully automatic weapons or 50BMG and 50 Beowulf. I have no idea where they came up with 50 beowulf. We can shoot 50-70 or 458 mag but not that evil 50 beowulf.

I don't know what I'd do if our range limited AR's. I've never fired a single commercial round in my CZ-527 in 223 Remington, and I've never bought a single piece of brass-- but I have >2000 really nice once-fired cases thanks to AR popularity (and more every time I visit the range).

Its interesting, reading about the different rules in different parts of the country. It makes me glad that I live in the rural and in the South.

Great place unless, as said if the weather is bad..only other issue is the annual presence of rattle snakes that love to hide in the shade of the target stands...It's like the "days of old" shooting there.

Local state range used to only allow 3 rounds in magazines, then switched to simply limiting the rate of fire, not how fast you could potentially fire. My only problem is caliber is limited to 50 and under, big bore ML are not allowed. That and no short pistol range, snubbie at 50 meters is sort of just making noise for the fun of it rather than serious target time. Unless the target is pretty big that is.
