I am just back from a stay in a migraine clinic

I had a 2 day Migraine and spent 2 days in the Hospital and then went to a Migraine Pain Management Clinic till yesterday

I am shortly going to find a Doctor that BOTH understands Migraines and the meds made form Weed
As I need to do something

After a nurse shinned her pen light in my eyes setting off another 2 day Migraine .... Can't do that again IMO
As I was ready to hit her for a second .... and then told her to just get another round of pills for my Migraine .....I just might have yelled

And thinking about it
The need to fill out another 4473 right now is well behind the dealing with the pain
So if need I will sell all my Guns to my Brother for $1 :(

GOD bless you.

My wife suffered from migraines when we first got married. She took beta blockers for a while which helped but gave her bad dreams. Not sure why but eventually they stopped, possibly due to a change in dietary habits. Praying you get everything sorted out as well, I have seen firsthand how debilitating they can be.

Wife has the migraine problem also. They will ground her for a day. She gets a prescription for it but usually can only get 6 pills at a time. Sometimes she can make it the month on them and sometimes not.

i know this sounds goofy ....but ...

have you had you jaw bone checked for "tmjd" (temporal mandibular joint disfunction) quite a mouthful.
those 2 sets of nerves on each side of your head can make you feel like everything in the world is wrong with you...except what is really wrong.

i had migraines so bad that i actually thought i had a brain tumor that was killing me. and went to specialists just for that...lost all strength...sapped all energy ...i wanted to die.

when they couldn't find the tumor i went to even more specialists.
still nothing.

this went on for 2 years.

finally a doctor who had the same experience put me on to another doc who specialized in tmjd,
and i was cured.

it seems that at night i was bruxing (grinding my teeth) and wore down my molars about 2mm,
that's not much...but that's all it takes to allow your jaw bone to go higher than normal and the tops of the
jaw bone set right on the nerves....then all hell starts with the migraines.

they made a "appliance" that fits over my teeth that allows for the molars to hyper extend (grow ...and yes they do!).

a week later ...no more headaches.

a year later i stopped using the appliance

i was cured.

I have been following your pain since your accident without much to add for a while now, until mozeppa mentioned it I had forgotten about my personal bout with TMJD. definitely worth looking into as it is not too terrible to cure if it is the cause, my experience was much like mozeppa had and I very seldom use my mouth appliance anymore.

If that doesn't do it have you contacted an osteopath yet? Our retired doctor was a general practitioner and an osteo. I had some horrible pains that we could not get to leave me alone with meds so one visit he put me on the table and made an adjustment, pain was bad that night but Gone in the morning! I hated him that night but sure wish he had not retired now! He has earned his retirement though.

I wish you the best of luck in the new year.

the above is worth looking into as there is always a reason behind everything.

I totally understand how a migraine can mess with your life. I get them sometimes and yes for a day or two I am in a dark room, quite and deal with it. If like you it was more often I would be looking for some real answers and how to move forward in my life. Best of luck and good to see you are back with us

I used to get migraines frequently. Had a couple of bouts that took 4 or 5 Demerol shots to calm them down. Then my neck vertebrae started catching when turning my head and my left arm would tingle. The medial joints were hitting together pinching the nerves due to wear. I went to a pain doctor that does nerve ablations, he burns the nerves with microwaves. This has been done 5 times, but it has been awhile since I have had them done. He did blocks first but they did not work for more then a day.
My migraines are gone now, but I will get them if I lift heavy weights as the nerves still pinch but can't feel that much. What does happen is the muscles in my shoulder, neck, and on my head tense up and cause a headache. I do have a device I call "my medieval torture device". It sets on my shoulders and under my jawline and is pneumatic. A hand pump like a blood pressure cuff inflates a rubber bellows to extend my neck vertebrae and allows fluid to enter between them. It works!
I saw a similar device in the Sportsmans Guide catalog for around $50. Might be worth buying it and giving it a try.

I understand what you are going thru and hope you get some relief soon.

Don't you just love doctors who make you hurt worse than when you came in? Went to see the first back doc, told him if he pushed wrong on my low back I may pass out form the pain. So what does he do? Yeah, he hit the spot... I spun on him and stopped my fist an inch form his face. Tears streaming down my face from the pain. Was the last time I saw that doc too!

I have what the Dr's call Trigger finger (pun unintended its the actual name) My finger locks in the shape we use to shoot a gun. It was locked for a month in that condition. In that time the muscles and joints changed to take that as my natural finger shape.
FINALLY I got into the specialist. He did his normal inspection and evaluation. Without telling me what he was about to do. He took several of his fingers and yanked my finger straight. It took 10 to 15 minutes of me screaming, kicking walls, stamping my feet. Before the pain subsided enough that I could compose myself enough to sit and try to relax. Well the Dr. only sat for the first minute of my pain demonstration. Got up told my wife he didn't know if I could take the pain of surgery and left the room. It was a good thing he did because about the time he left I was seriously considering stomping him where all men hurt. Kevin

Just a bit of insite into my migraines
Just over 5 years ago I fell at work
A nasty 10' fall off of a ladder onto a steel plate , with my head hitting first
Doctors said 95% of people would have either died or been WELL worse off
But my hard skull saved me sort of

But I had LOTS of damage and bleeding in my brain in the area of my forehead
So to save my live , they removed part of my brain and installed 2 plates to hold my skull in place till it refused ( Doc broke screws putting it plates in place )

Now I have a lot of scaring and areas that are 1/2 dead ( some may need to also be removed in time )

So I have to relearn some things

Also , thanks for the ideas .... looking into some already , never know
One of the ideas might help a lot ...PRAY

I really hope you are able to find a way to reduce your pain. I have a friend who's wife has headaches 24/7/365 nothing gets them totally gone and she has accepted that a headache is going to be there the rest of her life maybe. Not a good deal but life hands us some tough choices and we either learn how to deal with them, get rid of them or they get the best of us.

Have only had a few migraines, can't imagine having them on a regular basis. Hope they get it figured out soon, John.

Hey John, I had a few migraine at a time in my life also. I also had chest pains and a migr. so went to the ER to find out what was going on.Doc ran a bunch of test and talked to the wife at that time and he talked to me for a couple hours about all sorts of things. He left the room and my wife came in an about 1/2 hr later the doc came in and said he wanted to talk to both of us. He informed me that he was pretty sure what was causing my pains, looked at the wife and told us I needed to get rid of my major problem. Then looked at me and ask if I new what he ment and I told him I do believe so. He handed me a pakage of pills and told me to be rid of my problem by the time the pills were gone so I did, I was divorce within 6 months and have not had any sense.LOL Keep your women with you she seems to be a good supporter an help for you. My best to you.

Sucks to hear that, man. I hope you find someone who can help. My dad and I both used to get them somewhat frequently. Oddly neither of us have them very frequently anymore. If you end up going with the weed-based stuff let us know how it works out
