Hello all I have been fighting my Savage B-mag and have made some progress and thought I would share it.
I picked up a B-mag a few weeks ago and have been having issues with mis fires and flyers.
I changed out the cheepo stock for a Boyds and bedded it in.
This did not help at all. Different ammo brands wts etc still did not help.
I noticed some Vaseline looking grease in the bolt and thought it could be slowing my firing pin. My mis fires had good looking hits but i tried cleaning the bolt anyway.
I cleaned the bolt with brake cleaner until all the grease was gone then lubed it with Otis dry lube.
Went to thr range today and from the same box of problematic American Eagles that had been giving 20%-25% failures ,the remaining half box fired 100% . The big surprise was my 2-3 in flyers were gone! My worst 100 yd 5 shot group could be covered by a nickle. Just a heads up guys.....Buck
