Well, which am I better off with for hunting, the swc with gas check or the rnfp without gas check? Also wondering if the swc will feed ok in a Henry Big boy 357? Thanks, Craig.

Get ahold of the guys at Accurate mold they make an outstanding mold specifically for the Henry I have the mold in the garage and can tell what it is tomorrow but I can tell you it is a hammer on yoddle pups. I have not an opportunity to get a deer with it yet. But they feed fantastic and are very very accurate at 357 mag velocities.

I'm BETTING that feeding will be best with the RNFP. I am a BIG fan of SWC in .357 Mag, but the sharp meplat and shoulder will likely work against reliable feeding. In addition to feeding better than the SWC, the RNFP isn't terribly far behind it in terminal effect.

There is some controversy one boolit profile is better than the other at higher speeds above 1000 fps. The worry of barrel leading at those higher speeds a 30-30 can muster up (2000_fps) Without a gas check becomes somewhat of a issue. But it is a known fact gas check or not at those higher speeds takes a back seat when there is a miss match of a boolits overall diameter measurement to its bore. When using such boolits (lead_swc /Rd Nose FP ) to which you intend to try. Just saying: Slug your barrel first then measure your boolits. Pick the boolit that is most appropriate in measurement for your bore .(001 to .002 oversize) irregardless whether its gas checked or not. Expect good down range on target preformance and little to no barrel leading. Providing the boolits BHN hardness is near 12-to-15 and the barrel is warm but not hot to your touch. Excessive barrel Heat is a cast boolit #1 enemy.

The Lyman 358477 will feed through my son's BBS without any problems. This is with both 38 Special and 357 Magnum brass. Sized to .357, there is zero leading (Carnuba Red lube).

The Henry is very forgiving, so far it has taken everything I have fed it, The Marlin is very picky.
My Henry bullet is an Accurate 180 rnfp

Nobody can tell you if your rifle will feed SWC's, only your particular rifle can determine that. Lot's of supposition has been offered, and supposition when based on prior experience by many, is worth heeding, but it is still supposition, not fact.

Why not load up some dummy rounds and run them thru the gun and see. My BB 45 colt feeds swc just fine. But there not the most accurate bullet I have found in the gun. Al
