Just getting started into boolit casting and wondering which Lee mold to get.

I'll be doing shake and bake powder coating instead of lube.

I want a 200 grain SWC for .45 ACP and am wondering if I should get the traditional lube design or the tumble lube design.

Thanks!

I prefer traditional lube grooves even when using a tumble lube.

I picked up a lee 6 cavity 230 tc standard lube grove with the intention of milling the bevel off to get a 200 gr tc mold , but it shoots so well I can't bring myself to alter it , it seams to out shoot my 185 , and 200 gr swc . But I am not powder coating them .

I like the Lee 452-200-RF. Feeds well through my Hipoint, and it's relatively accurate, considering the open sights and my eyes. Also uses a little less lead than the 230 gr boolit.

I've got the 200 gr tumble lube as when I got it I was planning on casting large batches and using tumble lube to save time. It has shot quite well from a Ruger P90 and Bisley convertible.

Same here...when I pour anything that requires more than 200 grains I start to get the jitters and some remorse...as if I'm waisting lead on target ammo.

Same here...although, I have a lifetime supply...I still hate to waste it.

Some of us old Greybacks could claim the same thing and have only 50 lbs. under the bench! . . .:bigsmyl2:

You have the most diversity getting the tradinional lube grove rather than the TL design.

I went with the standard lube groove.

Now the wait for delivery begins.

I've always defaulted to standard lube grooves as you can tumble lube them anyway.
