So have enough info to be dangrous!
I see pewter is the big find, was at a thrift store and found a wine bottle drip ring. Yeah I live Ca, melted it down got just about 1/2 lb not sure why I need it but for $2.00 had to have it.
Now that I got it. Now what?

I'm very new as well, but my understanding is that pewter is a good source of tin, a little of which helps alloy to fill out molds nicely. I'm sure that the most experienced hands will comment before long.

Use pewter just as you'd use tin. Food service pewter will be about 92% tin, 6% antimony and 2% copper. I add about 2 ounces (871gr) pewter to every Lee #20 pot of clip on wheel weights (COWW) for an alloy of about 96% lead (Pb) 2.5% antimony (Sb) and 1.5% tin (Sn). Notice I say "about" a lot, whatever it's composition without lab testing, it's close enough for cast boolits.

You did good pewter ingots sell for 10.00 a lb you only paid 4.00. I look all the time and try to buy for 5.00 a lb. You just have to look for hallmarks and pewter marked on item and if in doubt google the manufacturer and see if they actually made pewter items. Some sellers call things pewter that are actually aluminum alloy of some kind like Wilton Armetale cookware listed on flebay.

Just got home from Kentucky with 10+ lbs of hall marked pewter for $54.23!!! Went to a local peddlers market in Lexington and on my second trip, scored well. (I've got enough for now). Lifetime supply possibly, when added to what I had already. Keep looking and you'll find it eventually. Merry Christmas to the cast boolits forum!

It also makes the boolits ductile.
