238 grains of love. Should work well for triple duty in the SR1911 CMD, the Flattop 45 with the ACP cylinder, and of course in the 45 Colt cylinder. From my early Christmas present, and NOE mold and a bunch of NOE push through sizing dies.

I have that NOE mold and agree it is a winner for 45 ACP autos and 45 LC. I do not use it in my Blackhawk 45 ACP cylinder because it has to seat too deep for my liking.

Normal seating depth works fine in the Flattop 45 ACP cylinder. I imagine the solid version should come in at around 250.

Looks really good. I've never cast hollow points. I've killed a lot of water testing hollow point j-words. Looks like a bullet worth working on.

I like that thick wall at the top of the HP cavity.
With Pb blend adjustments in BHN...that HP will perform at a variety of FPS and if you include the practice of filling that cavity with silicone or beeswax or the like to include a penetrator tip...it will penetrate clothing without fouling...it will develop the hydrostatic pressure enabling it to mushroom better than you anticipated.

Nice work, hope you enjoy your Christmas toys.

I need to add some pure lead to my pot next casting session, the alloy in there was for some 454 bullets, so a little harder than I want for these, perfect for the solid version, but the HP is what I want to cast for now. Jackrabbits beware!

About 7,900 people have perused this thread, don't know if you are one of them but...if you start at the front end and skim over the BS arguments that occur you will find some handy information about speed and hardness, shape of Hp's, using penetrator tips and an endless bunch of exact empirical data from several members experimentations...just the entire gamut of the HP's.
This thread was the place I wanted to concentrate all the aspects of the cast HP technology so someone can go there and see pictures, read stats etc...then save a lot of time and effort to get their particular application nailed down quickly.

Hope you enjoy it.... Working on a HP load...'Barrel Lengths Matter' (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?318639-Working-on-a-HP-load-Barrel-Lengths-Matter)

It is the small pin one, it was recommended to me over the large pin, still quite the hollowpoint cavity.

WOW!!!
Extremely impressive cast hp & equally impressive you can use it in so many firearms that you own.
Very nice!!

Ok thanks that's the one I was looking at and sounds like It would make a nice light load for my 45lc too.

With the flat pins installed, it should cast a nice 250gr RNFP bullet.

First couple fired from the Flattop with the ACP cylinder over Unique.

I went this route for both .45 ACP and .45 Colt.

What's the mold #?

That's Miha's 454423 HP mold. The Lyman 454423 was the 2nd SWC mold that Elmer Keith designed, back in about 1929.

Absolutely beautiful bullet, but I think I prefer the beveled base profile.

I prefer flat based bullets, not as messy to lube.

Got my mold from noe today cast up a small pile of boolits with it. Had a little learning curve with it but once figured out was making some nice looking boolits.

Never messy when you use PC for the lube.

Your loss, but each to his own.
