Some loads that shot well with my F/A model 83 and Mtn Mold 315GC boolits.

45r;
That appears to be a good shootin' .454. I have a Taurus Raging Bull that I have had for some time and never shot. I just HAVE to cast some bullets for it. I have a Lee .452-300gr-RF GC that should work just fine. In a week or so I will have to get with it and get this "gent' on line!

I'm planning on using WC 820 (slow lot close to H110).

Hopefully it will shoot well. At least, we'll see.

45r -- what's the distance?

Whitworth -- The notes on the targets say 45 yards.

I sure do like my 454 Bull. It' got the 8 3/8" barrel. Good cast shooter and comfortable to shoot. 1" @ 50 is doable.

What no 1 5/16th inch group at 200 yards???? ;-)

Nice shooting, how is the recoil?

I am going to raise cain! Stick my foot in my mouth! [smilie=1: Cause all kinds of trouble, get jumped on again, over and over but I can't help it. :Fire:
Your gun displays a problem. I want you to extend the range to 50 yd's, shoot a separate target with each chamber, 5 shots from each and post all of the targets.
No cheating, I want to see the points of impact from each chamber.

Thanks for pointing that out, Glen!!

44man, I bet there is no scope on that gun. That would be required to hold the accuracy necessary to decipher the cylinder effects. It wouldn't make a difference to me, anyway, because there is no way I can control the recoil good enough to provide the determination. Maybe on a gross scale, though, if I feel lucky on the day of shooting. Doesn't happen often enough for any kind of reliability. No, the gun should be sent to you for this kind of analysis/tuning? ... felix

It does make it harder but the fellow seems to shoot very good, knows how to shoot, so the difference should show up. He shoots good enough to keep one hole groups and I see indications of some chambers not shooting to the same POI. It is very common.
I am very interested in what he might find.

I put a ultra-dot on my 454 and it does help my shooting. My iron sighted 45 colt redhawk will do 2 inch groups at 45 yards when I'm holding a good sight picture but I can't see well without glasses anymore and the target is fuzzy but the sights are what matters with irons so I don't wear glasses when I shoot it..With glasses on the red dot on my 83 works great with the anti-glare coating on my glasses lenses.I shot some rcbs 270SAA boolits and the 315GC boolits with HS-6 again and they made a ragged hole at 45 yards. Some days I can do better than what is in the picture. The heavy loads do recoil and your hand can get numb.I'll shoot some targets from one cylinder each when I get another chance. My wife and neighbers don't like the sound of the full power casull loads but I like the power and the 296 and Vitt loads are one hole when I do my part.It will shoot 1 1/2 inchs at 50 yards with 31.5 grains 296 but the recoil is right up there and I prefer to shoot 28.0 grains for practice. The HS-6 loads are a piece of cake and much more fun yet have plenty of power.

Sounds good to me. Sounds more like eyesight then then the gun.
Want to have fun, try shooting a mod 29 with the Baughman ramp and red insert down in the shady woods.
I don't care how good a shot anyone is, if vision effects you, nothing can be done except to scope with something.

You wouldn't be making a reference to my Model 29 now would you? Yes indeed they are hard to see.......

I sure am! But I had about 5 S&W's myself too. The sight was made for holster draw, not shooting.

Ain't that what a handgun is for? Who needs sights on a handgun?

>>>Ain't that what a handgun is for? Who needs sights on a handgun?<<<

A handgun is just exactly what a particular individual can and cannot do with it. A good man with a good handgun of sufficient caliber can harvest deer better than a dub can with a rifle. I know a number of men good enough to be CERTAIN of a deer to 125 yards and beyond. Yes, that will require sights....

Wow. Then I suppose one day they will be putting sights on a shotgun!
